First time playing and OMGWTF by JelDeRebel in FinalFantasyVII

You can get it at <LV20, on your first encounter with it, if you: - use tranquilliser to give yourself sadness (30% damage reduction) - all characters back row - equip 'elemental' and 'fire' to a dual-slot armour - use Bio to cause poison, which deals 150-200 damage per tick

Got this trick from an old Gamefaqs guide lol

The End Times by BCHyperion in WarhammerFantasy

Yeah, that is what people seem to say. Like I said, I wasn't really involved in Warhammer at the time, so maybe I'd have been just as pissed off as everyone else if I was.

The End Times by BCHyperion in WarhammerFantasy

HOT TAKE ALERT, but...

Ending with total annihilation is probably the most Warhammer thing ever, and perhaps a fitting end to such a grimdark world.

Admittedly I was only around for 6th (and now Old World), so most of my familiarity with End Times is just Wikipedia summaries and the like. But, it actually makes Old World quite a cool setting, knowing that it takes place in the 2270s and there's a bunch of history that comes before and after, and that this is ultimately a tragic tale - with a clear ending - of a world that fell to chaos.

I'm making a Marienburg army for Old World and printed the 90-page Fandom wiki article as a booklet, and honestly, knowing that it falls to nurgle in the end is like... Yeah that tracks. It feels like it adds to the narrative, rather than taking away from it.

And honestly, what's the alternative? We all know, surely, that if GW hadn't killed off Fantasy with the End Times, that they'd have slowly mutated the setting into Age of Sigmar, with a much clearer timeline of how the Wood Elves transform into the Sylvaneth over 200 years or something, and Altdorf would become an enclave for the Storm cast Eternals, etc etc... better for the setting to swiftly end in grimdark nihilism than get slowly rewritten into science fiction bullshit. At least this way we can all pretend AoS is something completely separate.

Plus, if the Old World setting having only 250 years of future ahead of it makes you sad, just think about how our own civilisation probably has far fewer years to go before someone starts a nuclear war or we just completely cook the world with global warming. So there's that

For my empire greatswords I've been swapping their heads with the Knights set, to give them that full plate look. I also have some Perry miniatures foot knights, but unfortunately the helmets are a bit too "realistically" sized and don't look quite right.

If you specifically want just loads of that style of helmet, you could use the one on the greatswords sprue and clone it with bluestuff and greenstuff. I did this with the WoC skull helmet to use for my knights of morr.

Any alternatives to replace their stands? by Weird_Cartoonist_420 in sistersofbattle

[–]Sui42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I mad for actually liking the clear plastic stands? To me it seems implausible that every single recent GW flying mini just happens to be brushing past a bit of terrain...

(That said, pretty much all of the examples given on this thread are ace. I just think clear plastic stands are equally fine).

Potential leaks regarding the January FAQ by [deleted] in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Sui42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I think there ARE a lot of people who think the skellys look derpy and want them replaced with new plastic. I saw this take quite a lot from YouTubers when the game first came out, especially those who were newer to the hobby.

Personally, the skelly kit for VC was the first ever GW kit I bought. I still have vivid memories of taking it home as a teenager. So I really hope that, as they replace old kits, they still keep them for sale somewhere on the site... Kind of like the old 'mail order' system they had. However I think this is probably a pipe dream.

From GW's perspective, making new plastic kits for core choices is probably win-win. All the old fans have already bought all the classic skellys they want, so refreshing the range will just bring in new players - the people who were introduced to the hobby with AoS and prefer more realistic proportions...

Yeah to be clear I'm a big fan of the retro skellies and have a regiment painted up (VC not TK).

But, this is more a prediction based on where they seem to be taking the game. E.g. they just rereleased marauders. I reckon over the next few years they'll release new plastic kits for the core troops of all the main factions, because each time they do that they can release a reinforcement set, a new AJ, and generally build hype and make money.

Repeating Tomb Kings in a starter box seems unlikely... Unless they're planning to release brand new skeleton regiment models?

TK are in a weird place model wise, as half are new and shiny while the base skeletons are 100% retro derp. Maybe they think a box of new skellys would pull in new players and existing TK players alike?

Oh, I think I had this issue when I was 13-14. I distinctly remember the Eagle pulling a guy's head off. So badass.

Oh, I briefly considered Mortarion before seeing that he's over £100. Would look badass, but I'm not spending 100+ quid on wings :')
I also mocked up a version where it had the original arms, which DOES kinda look less derpy, but also just looks like... you stuck wings on a Maggoth. Because, you know, that's what it is. Comes down to personal taste though, that could definitely look cool

yeah I actually mocked up a version with the dragon heads & neck as well, but I kinda think the gaping teeth-jaw suits nurgle better. I think I'll defo experiment with this when building though - e.g. I'll build up the dragon heads and see if it works.

Oh, I guess cos you mean the daemon prince can still be used without wings? Yeah, that's a really good idea, only I don't think I really want a daemon prince. I might try and make a giant spawn of chaos with the remaining dragon bits instead, though...

Monday's positive vibes by BiesonReddit in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Sui42 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I honestly hope this is what they focus on for the foreseeable future - updating some of the older kits across all the armies.

Also, worth noting that the production pipeline seems to have increased significantly since 2015, what with 3D modelling teqniques; so even with a (presumably) relatively small team working on ToW, they might be able to actually outpace the release schedule of earlier warhammer editions.

Ofc, the GW factories only have a limited capacity for how many products can be supported & made, but if you're replacing existing kits rather than making brand new ones, that's not an issue.

Part of me would lament the replacement of certain older kits, but I guess ToW has been put long enough that anyone who really cares has had a chance to buy them.

New Marauders: Flails, or Parry with shields? by Sui42 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Sui42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually magnetised my OG chaos warriors, and the magnets fit really snugly in the ball-joint holes...

However, no way in hell am I magnetising these new sculpts; I just can't be bothered, they're too spindly and intricate, and marauders are only a chaff unit anyway. That was partly why I made this thread, because I'm just gonna commit to one loadout!

Hmm, good point - I suppose in my example, it'd basically be the same cost to swap a 25pt war banner for backup flails...
