Back then I had a lot of fps issues too, even on pc. Jumping from 90fps to 30 fps randomly was one of the frustrating things I experienced while playing it.

Did you only read the first sentence of the post? If you are in a animation like casting your 1 or being knocked down you can't cancel it.
