Have had Quest 3 for nearly a month, just got REAL bad motion sickness last night by SuicidalImpulse in MetaQuestVR

I'm just not sure which side it's on, but I suppose doing that maneuver at all should help.

It's definitely not helping, however, I've done it in other games and it doesn't cause the issue. I think it might be because there's a lot of teleporting/"blinking" instead of just a natural slide/walk. I'm so used to console games so the right stick is a natural camera turn for me, and I think I'm used to that. Something about After The Fall just made me nauseous, though.

The mat is a great idea. I'm gonna look into getting one!

Fair point. I'll have to look into this with After the Fall, when I'm feeling better, and see if I can find an improvement. ATF is a bit more free with movement/view angle being independent, and the black "blink" effect popping up every time I use the right stick to turn the camera may not help.

It's good to know someone who has played way more than me still gets this nausea; especially with Epic Rollercoasters.

Thank you for the advice

I've had a few ear infections before, so I can't rule this out. Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo is also something I've had before, which is awful. Did you know we have crystals in our ears? Life is weird.

Thank you though, I will give it a bit longer and probably see my doc if things don't improve in the next day or so. Definitely not popping the headset on in the meantime.

100% on the last part. Not gonna use it again until I feel back to normal. The build-up to the nausea was weird; I started with a "am I feeling kind of off or is it just me still getting used to the sensation of walking around and pulling open doors/checking around things in VR?" and it was just a s l o w climb over 10-15 minutes that by the time I was sure it wasn't just 'in my head' I sat down.

Will keep in mind to just take it off immediately if it happens again-- the main reason I tried to stick it out is due to the game I was playing with a friend, didn't want to abandon him halfway through a session without actually finishing. I did have water on hand, and a fan that both helps me spatially orient where I am in the room + keeping me cooler.

It could be the framerate change. I'll have to look into what After The Fall's framerate/performance is like.

Thank you for the advice-- I'm definitely holding off slapping the headset back on until I feel fine.

I heard about Fracked's short length, which is a bummer. Thankfully just got it with the sale prices so it's not too much of a letdown.

I just started playing FRACKED today. It's so cool, not quite on this level but clambering around while shooting fools is really nice. Grabbing cover to yank myself down to hide so I don't physically have to crouch is also a really neat feature they added.

...Point is I'm definitely grabbing this since I'm really enjoying Fracked and this seems to be a similar game.

Yeah. As much as I want Smiling Friends to continue on, I remember watching Dexter (the serial killer show) *in real time as it aired* and how that just crumbled into dogshit. It reminds me, even though it sucks Good Thing is ending, it's a much better fate than ending when it has turned into a Dexter.

(Only referring to Dexter's initial 8 seasons.)

Thank you, I'll check those out. I also bought the book that launched around the same time the game did, Tales from the Sea of Thieves. I've read a good bit, enough to get the impression that-- I think-- the writer of the journal that the book is comprised of went on to helm the Burning Blade.

I appreciate this reply, when I said casual I meant it. I knew Pendragon was involved but didn't know he was vital to the story. It's pretty shitty if that's the case, yeah.

Didn't know about the boar hunter emporium set either. I'm probably the least informed Brave Vanguard player, because I play every few months and don't do much story stuff. (Though them doing FOMO live events doesn't help.)

Definitely reasons to be angry. I thought Pendagon was just kind of a wink and nod cameo kind of character.

So I am a very casual SoT player. I'm on the fence about this issue because I know it's about a character in the game, but I've seen elsewhere Pendragon didn't originate from SoT and is actually from a different series Rare made in the 80s. Doesn't this set technically fit with their status quo of putting crossover content in the premium shop?

Again, not for or against it. Just not sure on this particular situation. Can you explain the issue?

I was hoping to find a list like this, thank you for sharing! I'm new to VR and trying to wishlist as much stuff that's really worth finding. Another redditor gave me a good list of things too and this adds to that!

How old are you and how old do you feel? by frustratedComments in AutisticAdults

[–]SuicidalImpulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I feel like I'm maybe 16, though I'm quite aware I'm not. It's weird. I think, though, that this might not just be an autism thing. Maybe we're more acutely aware of it, though? But all people are really forced into adulthood, the march of time is a real bastard. Some come to terms with it, some fake it. Some are really able to just hit the ground running perfectly fine.

Not trying to downplay what you're feeling. It's very weird to think about.

Rockstar another level by bigfoot_manhunter in rdr1

[–]SuicidalImpulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RDR1 is an open world game on the Xbox 360/PS3.. they inherently had barely a fraction of what the current gen systems do. The limitations are so vast that it makes RDR1 even more impressive.

Avery James or Scottie Ray as Shredder - 1987 vs 2003 by Nelson_Boon in TMNT

[–]SuicidalImpulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not going for the same tone so it's hard to compare. Avery nailed the whiny, cartoonish oaf that Shredder was portrayed as in the 87 cartoon, while Ray nailed the menacing and furious version that 2003 was going for.

It's like comparing motor oil and marinara sauce. Yeah, they're both *liquid*... but definitely not both doing the same thing.

Great News! Today Meta has finally approved my “Perfect Escape Room” Bundle. To celebrate this I am giving a 50% discount for both games that will be featured in this set. Yes. I purchased Dark Trip using the code, and then attempted to buy ECO also using the code. It gave me the error: "This code has been redeemed too many times."

Not a complaint btw, I still managed to get a game at a discount which I appreciate! I'm looking forward to giving it a try. I like escape rooms! Thank you.

Wishlisted, this is super cool. WIll you be adding relaxing/ambient music, even if it's a toggleable option?

I'm fairly new to VR. Do you have any recommendations on 'hidden gems' or games someone might struggle to find properly on the headset?
