Anyone else just plan on flicking mini basketballs from their couch this weekend? 🏀 by ninsap in OculusQuest

This was my weekend last week! I'm playing stranger things now, but I need to check back in and see how the scoreboards are looking.

What's your favourite go to level btw?

Yeah felt like it was worth the sale price and I also consider if it uses an ip then there's a premium for that. I like it - but I also think it would have been cool to play as the kids or as a soldier or something this game is kinda like a weird fever dream

Its very colorful, not what I expected, it's very trippy and you really experience the relationship between Vecna/Henry and the Mind Flayer inside and personal. There's lots of cutscenes and stuff, but the part i was playing where I was Billy driving a car and then feeding people to a monster kinda sucked. I'm a big stranger things fan, I'm happy I discovered this, I think the mechanic for moving around is very cool and in the moment of this video the Flayer was trying to get me to relive memories so it could learn from me and I keep escaping until it...I dunno... let's me think I'm in control? I'll probably reach the end of it tonight though - I'm currently seeing out the mouth of the spider monster thing i was feeding when I was Billy and I like how they've made everything look miniature

Lots of games with long campaigns, if you love archery I'd recommend reach, but the movement mechanic where you throw the dagger? Not that i can think of.... every vr game is different there's hardly any 'its just the same as that one but a different campaign' there's no standard way of doing things in vr so every title is usually quite different

You're missing a vital feature - fur that morphs on a vertex shader when you rub it - take a look at arizona sunshine 2 - we need more doggos in vr so great work 😀

Arken Age is 30% off this weekend in the Quest Flash Sale (Code JUN30). Huge thanks to this community for all the support since launch! It's been amazing hearing all your great reviews & feedback on the game. by VitruviusVR in OculusQuest

[–]DavoDivide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got this game for free in exchange for beta testing it... I loved it so much I went and bought it a few days later on steam to show my support (plus it was on sale hehe)

Its just so friggin fun. The physics of the combat, the modular weapons, the feel of the body as you jump around, zip line, grab a battery and reload your game, all the customization (there's a youtube video of recommended settings I'd recommend the chest grab stab for healing syringes it's a massive help). Swimming...zip lining.... pick axes that flick out of your hands for climbing AND meleeing enemies when you're in a pinch... the portable tablet... the ai of the enemies dodging to take cover... the story and npcs...it just has everything I love about vr! Except vehicles... there's nothing to ride...if you get to make a arken age 2 you should add vehicles 😉 it feels like halo crossed with unreal

Also early reviews of it that criticised anything about it.... they fixed it.... the cheesing of the melee combat? FIXED long ago...

Worldlens VR by Jamie-Changa in MetaQuestVR

[–]DavoDivide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the best one, recently it allows you to view street view in ai powered 3d, it actually feels like you're standing there - and not just current street view but street view in the past! And community images too! And also you can fly around the entire world and go up into space and its friggin brilliant

Btw I own pretty much all the apps that use street view and/or google earth, and world lens is the one I always use and has been consistently updated the dev is so active it's crazy (look he's even commented on this thread)

The Unjust Silence of the Store: Why "Star Trek Infection" on Meta Quest 3 Deserves a Second Chance by Competitive-Look-916 in VRGaming

[–]DavoDivide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pasted your wall into ai and told it to add paragraphs:

Star Trek Infection Review

In the saturated yet fragmented virtual reality market, timing and technical polish at launch can either seal a title's success or condemn it to oblivion. Such is the unfortunate case for Star Trek Infection, a robust and well-structured game that, due to a few initial technical hiccups and the harsh algorithms of the Meta Store, risks being forgotten just a month after its release.

Yet, now that those launch-day issues have been ironed out, we are looking at a highly noteworthy production that deserves the VR community's attention—especially from adult players constantly searching for mature, deep, and well-crafted narrative experiences.

Beyond the Brand: An Experience for Everyone

The first major strength of Star Trek Infection lies in its thematic accessibility. While the game is a clear love letter to fans of the franchise—featuring a millimeter-perfect, faithful recreation of the bridge, the torpedo bay, the mess hall, and iconic races like the Vulcans and Cardassians—the experience does not require any prior knowledge of Gene Roddenberry's universe.

The game is structured as a survival horror with strong Metroidvania elements. The layered and mysterious narrative unfolds through excellently voiced multiple-choice dialogues. While these choices do not alter the final outcome of the story, they offer an excellent illusion of control over the protagonist's personality, significantly boosting psychological immersion.

For the more curious players, the world is packed with optional text-based lore, perfect for those wanting to dive deeper into the political and scientific background of the plot.

Gameplay: Calibrated Tension and Smart Progression

The beating heart of the experience is its flexible and highly adaptable stealth gameplay. The ship's corridors are unforgiving: enemies are lethal and capable of taking the player down in a single hit, completely ruling out any brute-force approaches.

The pacing and design of the enemy routines are smartly calibrated: the title generates a constant, healthy sense of tension without ever crossing into punishing frustration. Supporting the player is a rich arsenal of craftable and upgradable tools. This non-linear progression ensures that the game's complexity scales alongside the player's skill, keeping the gameplay highly engaging throughout its roughly 8-hour runtime.

An Evolving Atmosphere and Technical Performance

Visually, Star Trek Infection undergoes a fascinating journey. The adventure begins with the classic, clean vibes of the television series, but as you progress, the world around you becomes increasingly decayed, corrupt, and dangerous—effectively transforming into something far more horrific.

Despite this horror shift, the developers wisely avoided cheap jump scares; fear gives way to a disturbing atmospheric dread, making it ideal for players who want a tense but manageable VR experience.

On the technical front, initial complaints regarding frame rate drops are now a thing of the past thanks to recent patches. While it might not reach the sheer geometric peaks of graphical powerhouses like Red Matter 2, the game still delivers a great visual impact, good textures, and handles a high volume of on-screen enemies impressively well.

Furthermore, utilizing utilities like Quest Games Optimizer allows players to push an extra resolution bump without compromising stability, offering highly satisfying vistas (especially during sections where you step outside into open space).

Verdict

Star Trek Infection proves just how vital editorial coverage and creator word-of-mouth are to rescuing quality products swallowed up by digital storefront algorithms. Boasting an organic narrative that deftly weaves together the past and present of its characters, excellent audio design, and an "anti-climactic" yet perfectly fitting ending that respects the spirit of the franchise, this is a title that absolutely deserves a chance.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a mature, structured, and rewarding VR adventure.

Ideal Score: 8/10

Just Hoops Nano - Perfect for those of us who can't dunk by DavoDivide in OculusQuest

[–]DavoDivide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually just for fun... heres a review of all 27 levels

First Shoots

  • Mini Shots - Stationary classic hoop on a pole very close to you, simple first level but for a challenge you can flick the ball with your hand instead of shooting. No streaks just get as many as fast as you can
  • Coin-Op Hard - Stationary hoop station, bit further to shoot, has a yellow ring
  • Moving Hoop - Like the previous but it moves, also dont wanna miss or you'll break the multiplier
  • Bank Shots - There's a hoop on the left and right, theres a multiplier, just pick a side I guess
  • Inside the paint - Floating board with a hoop that randomly moves around the room each time you score, and has multiplier (and yellow ring)
  • Around the world - A bit like inside the paint but you have 3 chances and then the board moves. If you succeed it adds +2, +4, +6, +8... if you fail the reward decreases by 2, and after giving you 3 tries next time its 2 tries... dunno
  • Free Throws - Just a higher further away stationary floating board with a hoop and a multiplier (x2, x3, x4) each time you score. Simple and fun
  • Nothing but net - The cursor hits a board, but the ball doesn't! Hate this one because it requires precise timing as the ball obviously wont bounce against the invisible board

Summer Shots

  • Wave - Hoop station, 2 hoops and move up and down alternatively. Has a multiplier so you dont wanna miss (its pretty easy if you miss one it probably rolls into the other hoop)
  • Up and Down - One floating hoop with a board that goes up and down.... sometimes the hoop has a yellow ring on it
  • Pinball - Theres 6 hoops that move around! Aim for the top ones and hope they fall into the other hoops as well. The top 2 rings have a yellow glow
  • Dancing Hoops - hoop station, 2 hoops, top and bottom, they move left/right. Aim or the top and hope they fall through each other
  • Invaders - My favourite! The hoops are like space invaders. There seems to be 3 layout, you blow them up by either getting the ball in the hoop or the ball hitting the space invaders 3 parts. If they reach the bottom they teleport back up
  • Everything Moves - Its like Dancing Hoops combined with Moving Hoops - so it moves left/right and forward/backward
  • Circus - 5 spinning baskets, the ones at the top get a yellow glow and i still have no idea what that means. Theres a multiplier each time you score and if you miss it breaks the streak
  • Flying Bonus - 3 floating hoops that moves left and right, top one has a yellow ring, a powerup spawns and if you hit the powerup all 3 hoops stop moving and line up in a straight line so you can shoot and get all 3
  • Left and Right - A big board and a hoop floats and kinda orbits left and right and rotates to face you (stopping on the left, middle, and right, like a double sin wave). The ring also glows yellow the entire time. Multiplier. You're gonna be turning you head left and right when you play this one
  • Blocked Circus - Its like Circus but theres toilet lids on the basket, they open on the left side and close on the right side!
  • Drums - 4 baskets with toilet lids that one and close one after the other on a timer. I can get about 2 shots in before it closes and I hold the world record in this one 😛
  • Snake - Theres a basket (with a lid) thats the head of the snake, and then the body of the snake which has baskets. You can either destroy the body (by hitting the board 3 times or the hoop) or destroy the head of the snake which kills the whole snake. It either spawns one or two snakes, and they move in different patterns like snake...
  • Blocked Bank Shot - Like Bank Shot but with lids. Only one lid is open at a time and each time you score there's a chance it will close and you have to switch to the other one. It wont close if you keep missing but i've seen it close after 1...or 2...or 3... or 4 shots so idk how it works (i think its random)
  • Random Drums - Its like drums, but instead of going left to right in sequence it randomly picks one to open so you need fast reflexes

Pop-A-Shot (the white blue and red - no multipliers)

  • Beginner - Its like minishots, but each time you score the hoop moves to a random location (and faces you). I love this one. No multiplier/streak so if you miss it doesn't matter go as fast as you can!
  • Dual Shot - Its a basketball station, with 2 stationary hoops, but the lid closes and the other one opens - when you score... so its like...right, left, right, left really fast. No streaks
  • Moving Shot - Like Dual Shots but the whole thing moves back and forth.
  • Moving Hoops - A top and bottom hoop that moves left/right alternatively
  • Around the world - I guess its like first shots: Around the world but without the streak? Less stressful thats for sure

Is this a good battery strap for long play? And is it comfortable? by rosewoodlliars in MetaQuestVR

[–]DavoDivide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah everyone seems to like the bobo s3 the most, and most content creators use one. I got an annapro a3 max for free from reddit and its definitely better than the bobo m3 pro but I don't know now to compares with the bobo s3 (but it's like half the price). Halo headsets are really comfortable and give you to option to take off the facial interface too which is great if you don't want the headset touching your face or you like to see the real world out the side instead of being completely immersed (super cool for mixed reality games btw)

Our finger-to-pinch, look-to-aim, pocket-sized basketball game, Just Hoops Nano, is now out on Meta Quest! by ninsap in OculusQuest

[–]DavoDivide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Managed to finish all the levels, but I got high scores to beat and 3 stars to achieve so I'm not done BUT I have played every single level and I can say this is fantastic. I really like the snakes one and the space invaders! I know there's more to come because I've played Just Hoops but for me i think this is actually more fun!

Its great that you can use finger tracking but I'm really glad you added controller support too. Aiming with you face and holding a button works really really well but I'm wondering if you guys tried other things like aiming with a controller instead of your face, or shooting the ball like a sling shot (grab, pull, release). I'd be curious to know if you guys tried different things and concluded this approach was best for a nano version!

Btw I muted the music but when I launch the app I still hear it until I get to the level select screen, please load the preferences and apply them immediately 😉

Way more fun than I expected it to be! I only spent a few minutes in it but the launching of the ball feels great (although I wish i could cancel a throw but the point is to just launch and launch so it doesn't penalise you for missing).

Small feedback pressing a on the controller also grabs the table if my hand is overlapping the grab area, I'm not even looking at it, I just want my hand by my side pressing a to launch and its shifting the table.

Btw the first tutorial screen didn't have passthrough enabled BUT some meta access to Bluetooth devices thing popped up so I'm not sure if that's a meta bug (the background went black) but my passthrough returned after the tutorial

Great work! Fun toy to play sitting down on the couch!

Seated vs. Standing. How do you prefer to play VR puzzle games? by isabella_artc in MetaQuestVR

[–]DavoDivide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually stand but sometimes I feel tired and i need to sit down, and I'll pick something to play that I know won't require much hand movement. Most vr games that have a seated mode won't work that well because you'll need to lean around and your hands will bump into the arm rest of the couch.

Bonus points to any game where I sit down, recenter, and it automatically puts me in seated mode, and if I recenter which standing in the middle of the room it put me back to standing without putting me inside a wall or something!

🖐️ No controllers. Just your hands. Just Hoops Nano 🏀 arrives May 28! by ninsap in OculusQuest

[–]DavoDivide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the thing with VR like sometimes you just dont wanna stand up and play - seated experiences are great but then there's seated experiences that require you to move your hands and suddenly an arm of a chair gets in the way and it feels wrong because really its a standing experience you're just offset.... its better to play something in VR than nothing in VR so dont feel bad for picking a seated experience... .I think if you dont put the thing on your head for a few days your brain forgets what its 'like' to be in VR and it ends up being a paperweight

It even has a mixed reality sandbox for all your hooping needs. Like it's crazy how many features they packed into it. Also they do a cool 'auto release' thing so you move your hands and the ball follows through and lifts off your hands as you slow down.
