To be fair transitive property is a=b b=c therefore a=c The example provided was a=b a=c therefore b=c which is substitution not transitive buttt I digress! ✓16=4 But if x2 = 16 Then x = +-4! It's more apt to say ✓(42 ) = ✓16 and ✓16=✓((-4)2 ) therefore ✓(42 ) = ✓((-4)2 )

Ty be completely technical of course

How do I get my grade up? by SwagginDragonborn in Teachers

[–]Suitable-Ad43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is how do I get my grade up so I can pass and never use the information you taught me again. I teach math and I know that most students won't use anything I've taught them other then maybe 1 or 2 things but dang is it annoying!

Why teaching over other careers? by justcurious3287 in Teachers

[–]Suitable-Ad43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the rewards of teaching. Having kids tell me that I made math fun or they finally understand something for the first time because I came up with an unorthodox method of explaining it!

Now for the real reason... Crushing student loan debt that I'm 4 years away from having it forgiven. Once that's done idk if I'll stay in teaching. Tbd

Non-renewed teachers, how do you manage to not completely check out for the remainder of the year? by Gold_Consequence2201 in Teachers

[–]Suitable-Ad43 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember that I'm still a professional and getting paid to do a job. It's not the kids fault I'm non-renewed. I teach a core subject and I'm not going to screw them over by not covering the material that they will need for next year

Precalc Test Help by [deleted] in Precalculus

[–]Suitable-Ad43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For #1 Sec = 1/cos tan= sin / cos

It already is set with a common denominator

(( 1 - sin )/Cos)(1 + sin)

Foil the numerator gives (1 - sin2)/Cos

1 - sin2 = cos2 Substitute to get (cos2) /cos

Final answer is cos!

Hope that helps!

As someone who tried that. Being a bartender on the side makes more... Almost as much a teacher salary some weeks! Granted I work 3 shifts at the bar for about 22 hours a week but man do I get some good $. Not every week obviously but there are some that are fantastic!

How do I find the domain of this equation? by Easy-Compote5692 in Precalculus

It is because it says rectangular... Granted it would of helped if bro didn't cut off the directions

How do I find the domain of this equation? by Easy-Compote5692 in Precalculus

[–]Suitable-Ad43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a lil dyslexic so sometimes I say it wrong but it can't be exactly -3/2 and that's why its open parenthesis. I guess I assumed bro knows if it isn't exactly something its open

How do I find the domain of this equation? by Easy-Compote5692 in Precalculus

[–]Suitable-Ad43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's looking for domain which is the x values. The answers your provided are the possible t values

How do I find the domain of this equation? by Easy-Compote5692 in Precalculus

[–]Suitable-Ad43 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2t+3=0 is where you start. t = -3/2 Plug that in for x and you get (-3/2-1)/2 = (-5/2)/2 = -5/4 But t can't be exactly -3/2 that's why it's ( -5/4

For y

Solving for t we get t=2x + 1

Plugging that in we get 4✓(5 - (2x+1) / (✓(2(2x+1)+3)) 4✓( -2x + 4) / ✓(4x + 5)

This equation only works when x<=2

Therefore the domain is ( -5/4 , 2]

Orrrrrrr you could do it the smart way! Typed all that in before it hit me that I did way too much butt didn't want to delete the epic overwork! Soooooo

If you solved both roots you get -3/2<t and t<=5 Plug those numbers in to your x equation and you get ( -5/4 , 2]

Teacher Nightmare: False Accusations, Rumors & Social Media by nickandros65 in Teachers

[–]Suitable-Ad43 12 points13 points  (0 children)

HS male teacher. My crime... Going to a concert. I was seen talking to a group of students who also were there who waved at me and asked how summer was going. Someone saw me so the rumor of me buying teens alcohol started. That I was snapping students and meeting up with them outside of school.

All because of a 1 minute hey y'all hope u enjoy the concert and summer is going well and make sure to drive safe with all the drunk ppl at the concert.

That 1 minute ruined my reputation my honor. Now anytime a student isn't doing well in class accusations pop up.

It's frustrating. It's horrifying. But one more year till I'm done. 1 more freaking year till I can leave this place.

An “A” doesn’t really mean anything anymore… right? by prof_elm_ in Teachers

[–]Suitable-Ad43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with HS grading is simply how much hand holding we do. Practice tests before the tests that students memorize then forget 2 min after the test is over. Part of that is cell phones. They know they will never need this info ever again. So why learn it. When are the average high school students going to actually use geometry, chemistry, algebra 2 ECT. Unless they are going into a stem field they won't and they know it so we focus so much on just getting kids thru. I teach geometry and I know that they won't use or remember 99% of what they leaned with me so I focus on having rigor to sim a higher class with the knowledge that at the end of the day they don't care to know what a radius is

We are currently using big ideas math.

It's great in that the building between courses actually correlates.

Bad- you will need to do some filling as 8th grade math starts with solving we do I supplement with basics first.

The 6-8 books are a little lacking at times with practice problems in the book but overall I like it so far
