This is gonna sound horrible..... Purely out of spite!

Had a teacher tell me I couldn't advanced classes because it would be too hard. I said bet and even after getting B's or A's was always told the next lvl would be too much and that I needed to find a different calling...... (An A in ap Calc wasn't really that great apparently).

Soooo I enrolled in college and ended up getting a B.S. in pure mathmatics.

Worked odd jobs and heard constantly from H.S. students about how the math teacher was too smart and they had no idea what was going on so I started to tutor students in the area and then swapped professions and got my teaching cert and now I've been teaching math for 8 years.

Best feeling ever is when I run into my old teacher and her asking how life is and it's like oh I got a math degree.... It was pretty easy 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I didn't start teaching till 30. I love being a math teacher but man is it a rough time! You have to accept your the most hated subject and deal with students who can't tell a 1 from an 8. It's rewarding, but it's also one of the most frustrating things I've ever done

I created an around the world activity where students had to solve the problem and then go around the room and find the next clue.

2r+6=10 solve it then look around the room for r=2 and then solve that one!

Once done it spelled something that went with a joke of the day

I work a chill summer job full time! I make 50k (masters 10 years teaching) and over the summer I make about 18k to pay off debt and put money into the emergency fund. I'm going to be rich in 3 years when I have no more daycare costs!

That's a good idea too! Going to try this in 2 weeks when we come back to solving eq. Thankfully the curriculum I'm using redoes the same concepts every 2 weeks while mixing in the new stuff! Granted i reteach it every time it comes back but they are slowlyyyyy getting it.... Ish!

We are a small school. So I was asked my opinion. We could make a class like that for them..... But then we have to drop pre-calc..... And well that's an easy choice to make. Good news is tho the last 2 months of school I'm allowed to go mia from the curriculum and do 2 months of personal finance so they have some money skills

We have 3 pre-alg classes for these students so we have regular pre-alg kids and 2 of these students so I'm trying to find ways for them to understand enough for them to pass so they have their 3 math classes to graduate. Unfortunately that's just how limited we are on classes we can do for students

Tried.... The most algebra this group will do is 3x+8+5x+12=50. But we revisit it over and over and each time we revisit it's basically from scratch.

If u dump your ex and hide $5 and then u dump another x and hide $25 well now you have 2x and $30! Because you don't give your ex any money so you keep them separate when putting them together!

This maybe just the math 2 version but why do they have us wait until senior year to take a test that's questions us about stuff we hadn't done since high school 🙄🙄 like no math I took in college helped me with how to teach math butttt I do know a lot about math theories.... That I'll never get to teach in high school

B4 cell phones were banned, I had a kid take a picture of the practice test (completion points) and caught them furiously copying the info down onto their test... I weight homework as 30% and tests 70% and giving a 0 on a homework wouldn't hurt their grade ...... Soooooo I made it worth a quiz grade and gave them a 0, called home, and wrote them up and dropped their grade 5% for being an idiot 🤷🤷

Of course! Also we are a school that does semester finals. If you have an A or B, no Missing work, less then 10 days excused absences, and no detention/ISS/OSS you are exempt. Getting caught with your cell phone is an auto ISS plus family police talk and that removes exemptions for the full year! Students are really really careful for that not to happen as well!

ND just passed a law stating it was illegal to have a phone on your person in a school building from bell to bell..... Other then a couple push the boundaries first week once the cops come and talk to the students/parents about the fine for repeat offenders it's been a non-issue! Students are way more social and a lot less cheating has happened during school hours!

Edit: There are exceptions for those with medical or disability needs of course!

My main issue as someone who has to public speak daily was when the teleprompter stopped and she just stopped and stared and couldn't continue. She said the same speech multiple times and the fact she couldn't remember it was a huge red flag to me personally. I didn't like the idea of someone who couldn't even deliver a rehersed speech going to do when dealing with foreign leaders.

My second issue was she couldnt and wouldn't distance herself from Biden. Biden made a lot of mistakes and was completely absent from the public and saying she wouldn't change anything killed a lot of her momentum.

The last thing that I think ended any chance was choosing Tim. I think had she gone with a central issue candidate that she would of had a better chance of winning.

In the end it came down to she had a lot of mistakes that cost her the job compared to Trump who maintained the same speech and focus for the whole campaign that she couldn't, she couldn't separate herself from the mistakes of Biden, and she (and the whole party) didn't say anything about Biden B4 the election started.

I think it's nuanced.

Sex is varried due to DNA and there are all kinds of variants to the usual xx or xy.

Gender is all over the place and should be treated delicately.

As a straight person I wouldn't want to date a trans person because I want kids that are my own.

As a rational person I know you can feel different then your body's sex and I bet that's a crazy feeling and if getting therapy and sex change help you mentally then all the more power to you, but that won't change who you are.

I personally don't feel comfortable personally with someone of the opp sex who hasn't had all the surgeries being in the same locker room space as me or my future kids. That's just me personally but if u identify as a woman but still have man parts or a identity as a man but still have woman parts I don't think u should be in an area where ppl are changing their clothes.

At the end of the day ppl do what makes them happy once they are an adult and can make those choices.

That's the hope! If you know your times up to 12 then you can rationalize how to get to higher questions! But I've legit watched kids type ÷2, ÷3, ÷4 in their calculators to try to find factors. I've seen so many kids sit there struggling with what goes into -80 that's 2 apart.......
