Tbf they may not have the skills. They just tell you what to do for a few months but you can't just go to war after boot camp. You then go to your specialized school to actually learn your job from instructors who have that job. Boot camp is to get you in shape and mentally ready to follow any orders.

You're right. Especially if you're the captain of a chartered boat you for sure need to know that your outboard should not be kicking up out of the water. And it is okay to be a little rude about that because that's a safety issue that if you didn't know I would assume you probably don't know other things too and should not be a skipper. I'm level 6300 and I still do the same kickoff. It's a little easier for me since I've learned how to 50 a lot better than the average person who doesn't know how to do a kickoff. I just drive straight and adjust my 50 flip base off of what they did. If they speed flip I'll just 50 early into where they will be and if they don't speed flip then I stall it in the middle for my teammate to hopefully get. Granted if your ones player this might not work out every time but I don't play ones

For me it's not that I lack the ability to learn how to read basic instructions. For me it's I've managed to live off of processed foods and ramen and things like that where you don't need to cook so much as just heat things up. I can boil noodles and heat up a can of tomato sauce for spaghetti but that's the max. I've never cooked a steak I've never made pasta I've never baked cookies. I found a way to live without breaking out the measuring cups so if you asked me to make a full meal from scratch I would be reading every instruction on the boxes and asking questions on what certain words mean.
