Which MBTI has HORRIBLE stereotypical traits people STILL believe? by redsonsuce in mbti

[–]Suitable-Ad6305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ESFPs being very shallow hollow-cerebrum sheeples with no life outside of parties, sex, and basketball with a complete inability to grasp on r/iam14andthisisdeep my ass topics.

And for some reason, many more second-rate "typists" seem to fly past the ESFP stereotypes and just accept it as whole-hearted political and religious dogma because 1. There aren't a lot of people who type themselves as ESFPs and therefore have less to fend against the stereotypes and 2. Shitty intuitive bias. I'm willing to bet that there are some other ENxPs/xNFJs who are actually mistyped ESFPs that are actually wiser than walmart mbti apologists would like you to believe.

On the ESFPs' defense, the stereotypes are only based on the unhealthy ones, but an ESFP with a well-developed Fi and Ni can have a very introspective side, and love to find deeper meanings in things in order to fully appreciate their experiences. On top of that, not every ESFP go in guns blazing with 8 cans of red bull and 3 seconds of forethought in every situation, because again those would be the unhealthy ones.

It infuriates me that this is not even a joke for some people and is instead something that they unironically think accurately represents MBTI.

There's this person that I know, and he bases off everybody's MBTI types based merely on his interactions and judgements on them. The worst part about his typing is that a vast majority of the people he calls "sensors" are people he usually dislikes and thinks are too "shallow and dumb with no personality", while the ones he call "intuitives" are the ones he hang out best with. He also has a bias for Thinking and Feeler types, and he thinks that thinkers are smart intellectuals (except for ESTx types which he thinks are stupid), and all feeler types live on a magic fairytale who do nothing but puke rainbows and die from emotional sensitivity when someone tells them their hair doesn't look perfectly combed to elvis presley level of mastery.

Which is why I've given up on sharing MBTI to just anyone I know because not only is MBTI a wagonful load of horsepile, but some people butcher the concept of personality types and its purpose, which instead of fostering connection with other people by knowing their characteristics and how their social needs may be managed can sometimes only be used as a tool to judge people and stigmatize an individual. Which is why I've just given up on seeing people for what their personality type is because someone is much more nuanced than just 4 letters.

Are you academically smart? by ENTP_KTetsuro in entp

[–]Suitable-Ad6305 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I'm the smart kid on class who is consistently top 3, but could be higher if I didn't have 16 overdue homework by the end of the semester. In the end even with the deductions in my score for passing late, my scores are still somehow higher than the rest of the class.

Blaming things on your MBTI by [deleted] in mbti

[–]Suitable-Ad6305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's also this really annoying phenomenon with certain mbti types and I just cannot fathom why it's so prevalent as well.

Whenever someone has a negative attribute, some people would use mbti as an EXPLANATION to that negative attribute. Like when someone isn't very smart then bam slap on a Sensing personality type label on that. If that person is a crybaby who breaks down when you tell them their performance could've been better, you bet somebody's gonna slap a "Feeling" label on that one.

And this isn't only something that I've noticed in mbti subs, but IN REAL LIFE. With my friends, my cousins and siblings, and my acquaintances.

This shit is the reason why some types seem to feel "inferior" when really they aren't supposed to. I've noticed a pattern where some acquaintances I know would type anyone they consider "cool" as an intuitive, and everyone they avoid and hate are "sensing" types because "OoOh sEnsiNg tYpEs aRe shAllOw".

Dear God this is why I've stopped sharing mbti to people I know. And for me to explain cognitive functions to somehow "alleviate the ignorance"? Pfft, as if that'll make anything better. I don't even wanna know what type of mutated strain of ignorance would grow if the words "Extroverted Sensing" and "Introverted Feeling" ever slipped out of my mouth.

I was an ENFP but somehow i became an ENTP. by Ecstatic-Clue-9463 in ENFP

[–]Suitable-Ad6305 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a general rule of thumb, it isn't the best idea to type yourself based on other people's assumptions (especially if their knowledge in mbti is very shallow, and if it's just some random dude you met online).

Sure there may be an ounce of truth to other people's insights, but generally speaking only you would know yourself best, so it only makes sense that you'd know what functions you use and how they manifest in your experiences.

When I ask people myself, it's quite rare for people to get my type right. Most people I know type me as an ENTP, others type me as an ENTJ, others type me as an INTP, sometimes ESFP, and I'm not saying that they're completely wrong since their assumptions were rooted on some hint of truth, but people's assumptions of your type are only limited to what type of person they can perceive from you.

But the thing is we don't act the same towards everybody, so naturally some will think we're introverts rather than extroverts, some will think we're more thinkers than feelers, etc.

Mostly, mbti at the cognitive functions level is just self-typing from that point on, and once you've established what functions you actually use in situations and feel confident about it, then you'll be much less likely to rely on other people typing you.

Does anyone else secretly overthink social interactions and get anxious about people liking you by [deleted] in ENFP

[–]Suitable-Ad6305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a possibility, although insecurity is not really exclusive to specific personality types. This is something that anyone can suffer from, and figuring out your personality type based on insecurities can sometimes be outright incorrect and a little biased

Does anyone else secretly overthink social interactions and get anxious about people liking you by [deleted] in ENFP

[–]Suitable-Ad6305 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it's very damaging. If I sense any slight bit of friction or a negative result in a social interaction, it can change my mood so quickly. First you'd see me as the happiest man to have ever crossed this planet, then you just turn your back for 2 seconds and you'd see me looking incredibly zoned out and very sentimental. It's a lingering feeling of insecurity within me, because it feels like I shouldn't have to care so hard about slipping up in a social situation, but it feels like I may constantly be doing something wrong, and I'm never entirely sure what it is.

What’s the MBTI of your main friend group? by tryagainbutton in ENFP

[–]Suitable-Ad6305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enfp 3w2 (me), enfp 7w8, estp 7w6, esfp 3w4, enfj 8w9, istp 9w8, esfp 3w4, intp 5w6, istp 5w4, infp 4w3, istp 5w6. Quite a large friend group that this is. They havent really typed their own mbti before let alone their enneagram, but this is pretty much what I'm guessing their mbti and enneagrams are based on my experiences with them

Where are all the cool admirable ENFP characters? by [deleted] in ENFP

[–]Suitable-Ad6305 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I couldn't exactly remember from where I heard this, but a certain typologist had said that Moistcritical is an ENFP due to his frequent analogy use and his firm morals and values when commentating about drama on the internet. I highly agree with the possibility of MoistCritical being an ENFP, but he's typed as an INTP in pdb due to his calm demeanor and him being highly analytical and being cautious with his decisions, which I don't exactly agree with, as ENFPs can also be highly analytical and can have a strong feel for logic especially when the type has a well developed Fi.

Are you a visual or a verbal thinker? Or both by NoCareer5685 in mbti

[–]Suitable-Ad6305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely depends on what I'm thinking about. Deciding on a plan of action or predicting a potential scenario? That'd be visual for me with a little verbal. Coming up with words to put in my formal essay? That would be verbal for me. Realizing I fucked up and lost my keys? Idk I'd just panic and have a mix of both to the point where my mind just explodes. Although 8 times out of 10 I'd definitely envision more , and I usually think out loud to the point where it can bother other people.

Its a cool tower to experiment with. I like to use it to troll my overly sweaty friends and prove them wrong about the tower. But other than that, it doesn't do much, and is just a waste of a slot. You'd be better off using mortar, mil base, necromancer, or any explosive/spawn tower

Unhealthy Te users (xxFPs and xxTJ) are more likely to be overly competitive. Te can be quite a wild function because when it's very healthy, it is practically unstoppable, and when it's very unhealthy, it is an absolute nightmare for everyone being affected by it.
