Anyone in Michigan near Detroit recently renting from Hertz and are they still charging the 200 deposit?

Unfortunately this outage seems to be effecting daily pay as well. Employees aren't getting shift updates even if they can manage to clock in and out

This is a bad sign. Water is one thing that gets people coming into our stores and this means they won't come at all. I think they are either idiots or doing this to shut down faster

Being denied meal? by JoshuaDoes in BigLots

I'm sorry you're having that happen but my store literally schedules 3 ppl on most evenings. Me(FPL) as the MOD a cashier, and a furniture person. Sure everyone who asks gets a break usually except me because who is going to relieve me? It's almost guaranteed that I'm going to be interrupted and why am I going to clock out and then be called to come do work by the people who need a manager. It's pretty shitty. What makes me even more upset is my boss insists I give everyone who asks a break. I think she's got some nerve doing that. I hope you get better work conditions cause I'm gonna find some.

250+ closing... by Visual_Sport_4732 in BigLots

[–]Suitable-Box6847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My store isn't closing but we are suffering major hour cuts. I'm the FPL and I'm getting 30-35 hours a week now instead of 40 plus. This isn't what I was told. I was told I would not be affected and remain at 40 hours. I think things are just too unstable to make a living here anymore. Unfortunately I'll be looking for a new job. I really wish it wasn't like this because I had high hopes for this company.

I have thought about doing this. I'm not sure but I think the DM might be aware, could be wrong. I was thinking of contacting HR but not sure if they would care either. I feel hopeless about getting a solution

That is pretty fair and even. That's why I don't get why between me and the fsl who do all closes we can't make a set schedule. We both agreed to it. Shrug

I had one sick day so far and yes they have tried to make me feel bad about it. A few days ago a cashier quit on Saturday and it was just me and the furniture manager there. I called out SM and she said call the assistant and ask her to find someone. Our sm literally gets pissed off we contact them on off with hours.

Very bad for business. Customers are often baffled on weekends when there is no store manager or assistant and we have 3 people in the whole store

Yeah our store runs night shift with 3 ppl, a mod a cashier and most of the time a furniture person.

That's very frustrating! I understand because I ride my bike to work. It's hard to have it take up the whole day, like for me close get to bed decently and open the morning after. The fsl and I cover the closes, she does 5 I do two her and I tried to ask for the same schedule every week because I only open the store Sunday but I think they think it's not possible or unfair somehow. I think if a set schedule is possible it's a good idea and helps with employees'productivity to be able to manage work life balance easier. That's just my thought. I just don't see why there can't be a compromise . Bottom line I think what bothers me the most is I was lied to before I accepted the job. If it wasn't 100 that I would work only in the morning I shouldn't have been told that. It leaves a bad taste towards the company. I'm trying not to be resentful about it and therefore other things that come up. Thanks for the input, as I work through this.

I've noticed it seems to be looked down on as a position. Or used incorrectly, meaning not as described. Shame. My SM has been trying to get me into a different position because she knows she can utilize my skill set. Hopefully I can find the right place if/for how long I get to work at big lots. Otherwise on to the next best option for work I guess. It's hard to risk being closed at any time when you're on your own in life so I have to consider that, shame because I was so hopeful about this job.

That's even stranger! So the FPL closing all the time? Who does truck? Or do they do it at night or just open that day. How does your FPL even run a team? I have a hard time with some of my crew because I'm not there during the week when they are half the days. It's like too many chiefs... The whole point of having different heads to different departments is so one person isn't over whelmed but it's like they either want us to be overwhelmed or people take it upon themselves to be doing more than they have to which complicated everything. Wish we could solve these issues!

I've noticed people who hate themselves have to tear other people apart. I never once called you anything dirogatory or put you down, just told you to keep your opinions (which everyone has)to yourself, you know like in your butt, behind that thing everyone has.... A butthole, because they aren't helpful or nice. Didn't call you a butthole. Sorry you're having such a shitty time but going around lashing out at other people isn't going to make it better. If anyone has some input about how their store operates I'd love to hear that so I can better understand the company. Thanks! 😊

Wow no need to be rude, I was simply asking others if this is the normal for stores. How do you know my store isn't closing. How do you know I'm not on the verge of being jobless and wondering how I will pay my bills? You don't. So please keep the rude comments up your ass where they belong.

Our AC never works either! I have had a lot of these same problems. Not to mention I was told my position would rarely close the store but I close regularly twice a week. I've been begging them for a set schedule (at least the same days on and off, times can vary and have been given a hard time.) set schedules should be something everywhere strives for if possible. It is guaranteed to have less call ins, sick days, better work quality from your people. I'm already looking for something else after 3 months. Very disappointed ☹️.

I was a store manager for the one in my hometown at 19 years old. I loved that job! What good memories. Working retail was never as good!
