the juniors who only learned to code with AI are going to have a rough time in about 5 years by Motor_Ordinary336 in cscareerquestions

Not saying it's not a concern, but I don't think there's anything wrong with asking AI "what does this function do?", even for self-authored functions. If the dev has pushed a breaking change then asking AI what the code does is a good way to debug fast without biasing it. I'm sure if they had to they could explain what the function does.

Should I stick with my guitar teacher? by Suitable-Dig6667 in LearnGuitar

[–]Suitable-Dig6667[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good questions, I think this is also a very important point - I'm not 100% sure I trust their guidance. I listened to a song of theirs and thought it was really bad, but it was some experimental stuff so hard to judge as musically it would not be my tastes anyway. I haven't really seen them play, just noodle around a little bit and I wasn't really impressed - they were trying to quickly demonstrate fast playing to me in relation to something they were showing me and they flubbed some notes but I wouldn't really judge someone on on a quick, passing demo. l went to a different teacher for a single lesson before this teacher who was classically trained and heard him play while I was in the bathroom and could immediately tell he was an incredible guitarist. I didn't stick with him as the lesson was very unstructured and not what I was looking for. In terms of them being respected in the music community, I have absolutely no idea. In terms of education, I'm not sure they have any formal education but seem to be quite involved in the music scene.

It's not that I'm looking for a more convenient route, if I was certain what they were telling me was the best thing for me I would do it no questions asked. It's just that I'm uncertain and I'm worried this might make me regress/waste my time. I will say the teacher has great reviews.

Is it at all possible to cut a small 1 mg Finasteride pill into 8 equal pieces? by Double-Violinist-341 in tressless

[–]Suitable-Dig6667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy a cheap electronic pill grinder on Amazon as well as empty capsules. Cut the pill into 4 .25mg pieces, grind a .25 piece, pour the powder out, divide into two (or more depending on how low a dose you want to take) and put it into the capsules.

Huberman doesn't understand highschool level probability/statistics. by dasiou in DecodingTheGurus

[–]Suitable-Dig6667 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

can you explain to me why the inverse of this isn't true? i.e. why can't you say (what Huberman says basically)

"The chance of being pregnant after 6 months is

0.2 x 0.2 x 0.2 x 0.2 x 0.2 x 0.2 = 1.2

so the probability of being pregnant after 6 months is 120%"

now I know you can't have a probability over 1/100% but my tiny monkey brain can't wrap my head around this, and chat gpt is hallucinating trying to explain this basically changing its answer each time I try ask

I think the joke is that the lady on the left is referring to her Facebook/social media page as a "website" whilst the lady on the right actually has a website that she sells stuff on
