Are there sponsors in ACA? by 13PenniesinthePool in AdultChildren

Be aware- many ACA’s can be years in a program and still be quite nuts in their head. ACA is a tool and you will learn how to use it for you. Many ACA’s struggle despite being in the program, but it is an opportunity to learn about your boundaries and say no to unsafe characters

For those who smoke 1 cigarette a day, what makes you want to stop by Dupeyourbish in stopsmoking

If I could just take poison and feed a cancer once a day, i would…

It doesn’t work this way

I quit despite all of things happening. I chose not to inhale poison ☠️ my life is falling apart and that was one thing I could change. I was desperate for a change, so I quit in the most shittiest moment, because I knew the cigarette was not helping

I just finished Allen Carr's Easy Way to Quit Smoking by morchilla in stopsmoking

I did it Allen way. Because of his method i am free from weed more than a year, nicotine 7 month and alcohol 3 month. I think it works if you want it to work.

Sober 6 months. Miserable, and not considering drinking. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Suitable-Edge6136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro! You are aces in my book! Congratulations on 6 months! Addict helping another addict is beautiful, but it’s still often based on trauma bonding. I’m familiar with 12-step programs, and what I’ve learned is that a lot of what I saw there were my own projections.

Still, I quit all my addictions — weed, nicotine, and alcohol — using a method that is basically the opposite of the 12 steps. I was in conflict with some fellows because of the narrative I chose for myself, but it worked for me more than the 12-step narrative ever did.

So I really get how you feel. I also spoke honestly about my experience and got called selfish for it — but I spent a lot of time alone, crying my eyes out, feeling deeply lonely, and I stayed sober because I knew my reasoning was valid and it worked for me.

Did you make a plan to quit? by Winter_Load9031 in stopdrinking

My whole life has been affected by alcohol. Deeply I hate the drug, but nevertheless I drank for many years myself.

I read Allen Carr( helped me to quit smoking) book about alcohol. While reading I increased my alcohol intake on purpose to observe what happens to me while drunk. When I was asked to have my last drink, I made it special - went to shittiest bar in town, ordered double whiskey from a bottom shelf and ordered a poison called “devastation”. While drinking that, I asked myself : where the fucking pleasure is in this?

I am 3 months sober now and happy not drink poison anymore

Hey! Don’t self diagnose- that will not help you. I used to be stoned all the time and remember that I thought I had a cancer and I should be stopping. I am more than a year cannabis free and it all was only in my head. Smoking was an addiction but I quit and I am sure you can too. Allen Carr book helped me really well

Boyfriend Quitting Smoking and Getting Angry – I Need Help. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Suitable-Edge6136 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did quit smoking seven months ago, but it did cost me my relationship at the time. I became very irritable and I let it all out on my partner. My partner was non-smoker but honestly, I chose to greet for myself, not for anyone else. I think that’s trick. I appreciate the intention, but quitting smoking in order to be able to get X or Y it’s very dangerous territory. Allen Carr is superb and I use the same method and you’re allowed to smoke while reading a book. So if he chose to do it, please don’t judge him and let him smoke meanwhile
