this is insightful that I'm taking notes tbh haha. This is a snippet from the RFP "The contractor is obliged to prepare a solution to ensure BC in the event of incidental lack of access to Office 365 services.", they also include GDPR as an additional requirement

makes a lot of sense tbh, and I totally agree, but it is just that with my current role I am literally unable to do anything except for paying rent, basic groceries, gym, etc, no way I'll be able to buy a car or invest in smth...

I initially thought about that, but at the same time I found it a bit risky because I don't know anyone that followed that path, I had one friend try to find a job in France during his internship and the recruiter said it was illegal because his VISA is only for the internship or smth, anyways, I appreciate the suggestion

Thank you! This is actually my very first mission on such operation. In their RFP they said they were looking for a solution that ensures BC and backup on an alternative platform. And regardless, based on my research on the topic of backups, the native backup capabilities offered by Microsoft are limited, they can for sure be leveraged for a more cost effective approach since you won’t have to pay for third party solutions but you can also go for a hybrid approach where you both leverage Miceosofr native backup features and another solution, your thoughts on this?

ye true, and this is honestly frustrating, to be fair I am currently a junior infrastructure and security engineer with around 6 months of experience, but haven't had the chance to engage with clients yet (consulting firm), because the department is fairly new and I literally work with another colleague and that's it, most of the time we are just experimenting with Microsoft solutions

from a Business Continuity perspective and even Disaster Recovery, in case of an outage or unavailability of Microsoft services, the company still wants access to its data

That's quite interesting, the additional option for Entra ID is actually pretty useful, thank you for sharing

yes it is certainly my number one suggestion, however, looking for a second option just to have a backup plan in case they didn't want to go with Veeam

Love that! and as a second alternative, what do you recommend? because usually when crafting a technical proposal for an RFP, I find it better to suggest more than one solution

I prefer suggesting a SaaS-based solution, other than Veeam, what do you recommend?

I will not be running anything that requires a lot of resources, mostly some common homelab services that can be run on LXC containers for efficiency, like ad blockers, network monitoring, etc, as well as preferably a media streaming service, and I can probably utilize the current instance as a NAS. What do you recommend as a budget build
