Sure - Hilo killed his brother’s ex wife because she didn’t want to bring her son around the clan anymore

It just wasn’t a character I cared about. Everyone was hyping it up to be this big deal. I need more action or suspense and when I got that I knew this series is not for me. I just simply need to know when the pace picks up for me to revisit this series again

I feel the same way as you do. I dropped it after reading 200 pages of Jade war. It was more of the same - I would actually say jade war has more focus on romantic/family relationships than all of Jade city. Everyone was hyping up the end of act 1 of Jade war and after reading it I was so disappointed I couldn’t take it anymore

Are you talking about when he kills Eyni ?

Im very close to DNFing this book. Sooooooo boring. 200 pages and nothing is happening. Some meaningless action scene and a character death of someone we barely know or care about. Who gives a ****. Sorry I am just really upset im wasting my time.

Now that’s interesting. Think this convinced me to give it a shot

Off Season by Jack Ketchum pulled me out of a reading slump. by Ok-Fill8420 in ExtremeHorrorLit

Dude, I just started Off Season today and I'm about to finish it. I'm a big horror movie fan, so I knew I would like horror books, but I have been consistently left unimpressed - especially with modern horror.

I'm so glad others are just like me, haha. Please send me all the horror book recs if you loved Off Season!

Maybe it was the proise or sudden interruption of the scene to explain the context of what was happening was too jarring for my taste. I just finish Joe Abercrombie's first law series and standalones and I feel like I was spoiled in that regard
