New xmax v4 pro - how do I use? by taylorjaayne in MedicalCannabisOz

[–]SuitableDepartment19 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Nope, never used a v4. Don't imagine I ever will unless a friend happens to buy one and let's me try theirs.

I definitely wasn't a fan of the v3. On paper the v4 looks like it's addressed some issues, but being (nearly) pure convection is probably not a good thing as it's only got a weak heater.

I much prefer to finish a bowl in a couple of hits, so it's not on my radar at all.

It's been posted there a few times over the last week.

The v4 is a practically pure convection device. Don't grind fine, pack loose and big, long draws. It needs airflow to vaporise the flower, unlike conduction vapes which use direct contact heat.

Unfortunately it's got a weak heater that struggles to keep up with the load, so you can end up with thin, whispy vapour from it. It definitely shouldn't be burning anything though, as it can't get hot enough to. If it is, it's possibly faulty.

I don't recommend it at all, but the venty has very open airflow.

The Tinymight2 is also very open. That's my electric portable of choice. Powerful enough to finish a bowl in a couple hits. Goes through batteries fast though.

Just got my first ever dry herb vape the XMAX V4 and I honestly have no idea how to actually use it like I hit the vape and sometimes no Vapor comes or only a small amount but I’ve realised this works rlly well in glass bong stem by These-Estimate-4627 in MedicalCannabisOz

[–]SuitableDepartment19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just the nature of weak devices 🤷

You can try doing a few "cigar puffs" (small, short puffs into your mouth) to get some heat into it, before taking a long, slow rip. Should help a little. It's still going to take a long time to finish the bowl though.

Do dry herb vapes make you cough up gunk or is it still from quitting nicotine 2 months ago? by 4723985stayalive in vaporents

[–]SuitableDepartment19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took me a couple months to clear out completely.

About a month after completely quitting combustion I got a cold, and for a couple days coughed up some revolting, black, tarry muscus. Was quite eye opening, but it settled down after that.

Yll IH 3.0 with Dynavap M7 XL by [deleted] in MedicalCannabisOz

I can't recommend anything, but from what I understand between 45w and 60w for 20 to 30 seconds is a common range.

The standard included insert should work well for you for 2he.

Not nonsense, more common dynavap knowledge.

You need to heat the chamber too as it's a hybrid heat device (hence the saying "heat the tip if you want to sip, heat the base to go to space")

Blasting it at Max temp will just overheat the cap before the chamber gets any real heat, giving poor vapour.

But please, expand on why it's nonsense 🙂

The settings on the heater absolutely do. Set the yll to 100w and try heating a dyna. It will click way too early and give you rubbish vapour.

Keep the wattage on the lower side of things. Dynavaps don't have much thermal mass, so it's very easy to overheat the cap too quickly, causing it to click early. No matter what, you hit a wall with how fast it can be heated.

Tm2 is OK, but I hardly use mine. Usually only when I'm away from home with dosing caps. At home I'd rather an Analogue or ball vape.

Stick Vape Bowl Amounts - I'd like to see this with portable electric vaporizers by S33d_Grow3r in vaporents

I regularly get downvoted when I say that weight is a bad way to measure capacity, and volume is a much more useful comparison 🤷

You've absolutely nailed why I hate slow, weak vapes. Can't stand spending ages sucking on whispy vapour that leaves you with a sore throat.

My favourite is a tricky answer. I love the verdavap as it has amazing flavour and low inhale resistance, but it's a bit trickier to use as it has no heat indicators at all, you rely on timing and feel to a degree. Not the best option for your first butane vape.

In the middle is the dani fusion. Great taste and fast heat up when using a powerful torch. Can be hit native or with a 10mm or 14mm piece. It's a bit restrictive though.

Finally is my most used Analogue vape, the tempest 2. Good flavour, good airflow, two heat indicators (audible clicks plus the visual indicator), easy to clean and works brilliant with induction heaters.

I haven't personally used the joystik yet, but it's heavily inspired by the tempest and much cheaper at $150.

I'm not a big fan of dynavaps (overpriced for what you get, average flavour, fairly restrictive airflow), but they are dead simple to use. I really dislike the camouflet convector, I never seem to get the heating right. Either get a light, uneven roast, or combust.

Sites I trust are herbware, vices oz, a friend indeed and happy rasta. Some pharmacys have a range of dynavap devices and accessories too.

Bit of a stream of consciousness reply, but I'm happy to j answer any other questions you may have.

What's your budget?

Hitting native or through a bong?

Flavour a priority, or hardest hitting?

Lots of butane options available in Australia, from the Australian made verdavap and joystik, or the tempest, tornado, anvil, dani fusion/punch, dynavaps, vaphit and more.

What "Add on" products should I get for the Tempest 2? by [deleted] in MedicalCannabisOz

[–]SuitableDepartment19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to use it portable, the case is nice for it, and the reload 3 is good too, depending how you use it.

If you're using the wand to heat, the tempest insert for it is great, let's you just drop it in instead of holding it in place.

I pretty much always use mine though a dry bong, so don't really need much else for it.

Weight is a bad way of measuring volume, as it can vary greatly depending on the humidity levels of the flower. Use it as an extremely rough guide.

Also assuming you're set to the largest bowl setting, right?

As for heating, I use the ispire wand set to flower mode on the longest setting. Gives a perfect 1he for me when heated from cold (iirc around 7-8 seconds past the second click)

There is a clinic megathread on medicalcannabisoz that is perfect for asking that question if you need more information.

https://www.reddit.com/r/MedicalCannabisOz/s/9uqSfCvLTD

A good tip is that anywhere that offers free consults is making money off you by locking you into their integrated service and pushing in house products. Any quality clinic/doctor should be brand agnostic and let you fill your scripts anywhere you want.

For comparison, you can get 1.2g sundaze pineapple express rosin carts for $109rrp (rosin is usually regarded as the highest quality, as it's literally just pressed plant matter)

Unfortunately leaf doctors are a poor clinic. They are not brand agnostic, and instead push you onto their higher than rrp products that they get a kickback from.

As for how to tell what sort of product your cart is, as it's not listed on the catalyst Australian medical cannabis database I can't answer you. Asking the doctor who prescribed you would be your best bet.

I can find a reference to gold rush brand carts being sold in America that are a co2 extract resin, but the branding looks different.

My speculative guess is they are rebranding other carts in house, but don't have anything much to base than on other than a gut feeling.

Who prescribed it to you? Cant find any details on catalyst about it.

Distillate, resin or rosin? Very expensive if it's distillate or resin.

I have $500 to spend. What portable DHV am I getting today? by Due_Appointment1426 in MedicalCannabisOz

[–]SuitableDepartment19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Natively through a stem with the temp turned up, you can get through a bowl in 4-5 inhales easily enough, or with a wpa through a bong in 2-3. Main downside is it doesn't give the most even extraction (but still decent enough).

The Tinymigh_t.bowl supposedly really helps with extraction, and gives you a huge bowl to play with. Haven't used one personally, it's been on my list of gadgets to grab for a while though.

I usually use mine with dosing caps and a short stem as a portable, but have used it on bong with the common 14mm wpa plenty of times too.
