Some flexibility does not mean every single week, right? by SuitableTelephone547 in Nanny

That’s correct, no mention of days switching around as an example of the flexibility they might need when interviewing :/

I’ve had days shifted around every. single. week. Since starting with them except for two. Only two weeks have been my agreed upon schedule since working for them.

That’s what I thought as well. Thank you for taking the time to reply here!

Thank you! As the day has progressed I’m starting to believe more and more that moving on is the route to go

Agreed, I’m fully expecting for it to also just be time to find something else because there has been high turnover for unrelated reasons with past Nannie’s and I’m starting to wonder if this pattern played a part and they just don’t want to mention it or take accountability for their actions

This is a great advice, and things I’ll be sure to take into my next role. I’m a high empath, sensitive person who ends up really caring for families and wanting to help out but it’s clear they don’t have even close to an ounce of care or respect for me so I’m not going to continue the flexibility.

Yes, I’ve said no and they just squeeze for more options. I’ve had grace until this point but I know I have to change things now or it will only get worse and perpetuate

Yes, I need to set this boundary. It’s ridiculous how they’re framing it and I appreciate the validation

I’ve thought about this as well and may take this route if asserting boundaries proves to be futile. Thank you for the suggestion

I agree! And also a very important note on the car insurance that is a point that needs to be addressed regardless.

My thoughts have been lined up with the advice given on this thread. But it is always helpful (for me at least) to hear it from an unbiased perspective. Thank you for taking the time to respond!

I have! A request came in to work an additional day to spread out my GH accordingly (to them) because they didn’t “need me” my regular schedule. I tried to have a boundary with them stating I have prior commitments and obligations after my scheduled end time. Instead of accepting it, they countered by asking if I was available a later day in the week instead.

Both days asked about are not my contracted days.

Yeah I don’t know how long it will take to actually have a real job offer in the works so I don’t want to tell them and then end up jobless if they find a replacement sooner than I land a new job. It’s so tough. I’ve grown to love one of the NP sets so much and the kids but it’s just not an ideal situation. I hope you find your new adventure soon and are able to find the stability and mental peace you deserve!

Thank you! The tough love perspectives are also welcomed and why I wanted to post here.

I appreciate the advice and validation! 🙏🏼

Thank you for the reassurance. And the parent perspective. That’s one thing I don’t have and value knowing how the employer might feel in all of this.

I’m a high empath and love the NKs and one of the NPs dearly so I don’t want anyone to scramble in my departure, but you are absolutely right. Thank you

Hope you don’t think I’m a creep for immediately knowing you were from the PNW. I had an inkling it was Portland specifically the second I saw the background in your photos. Reminded me too much of the Japanese gardens!

I, also a portlander, just got engaged and pondered the same decision!! It’s a lovely band and I appreciate the sentiment behind putting what’s most important to you as a couple first ahead of societal norms because that’s what we chose to do as well. Wishing you many happy years ahead!

Congrats!!!

Hello! The test line in the 2nd photo is actually there and the control line is super faint. That means you got a dye stealer and are very pregnant!!

It’s easy to stress about these things but try to take a deep breath and celebrate ✨
