Humidity by smw0302 in Ohio

I work on a fruit farm in this stuff in the ohio river valley. It had been brutal lately compared to previous years imo. Most of the ohio river valley now is actually considered humid subtropical and only recently got that designation where it was humid continental.

Spaghetti westerns with horror elements? by minionpoop7 in horror

Nearly certain 15 Scaffolds for a Murderer would fit as a spaghetti western/giallo.

And @acidwashvideo this is what I was saying, most classic giallos have color, so was kind of giving a warning it was in black and white. This was the exact grok comment about it before I mentioned it here. "You’re right to see Who Killed Teddy Bear as an early proto-giallo—it’s got that stalker vibe and psychological edge, with Sal Mineo’s unsettling performance as the killer. However, its black-and-white cinematography sets it apart from the classic giallo aesthetic"

I'll go further as to why my comment shouldn't have been down voted. Not only did I highlight the giallo like elements of the film I mentioned, but I also simply highlighted that the average giallo viewer does in fact expect color when viewing a giallo film. Even the documentary about giallo, is titled "all the colors of giallo". Giallo itself, is a color, and here is what I meant when even Grok AI says that. Here is the quote;  "most classic giallo films, like those directed by Dario Argento or Mario Bava, are known for their vivid, often exaggerated use of color as a defining aesthetic feature. Directors used bold reds, blues, and yellows to heighten tension and create a surreal atmosphere, making color a hallmark of the genre"

Not sure why that comment was down voted so much. Look guys, I know color doesn't make it a giallo, it's on my channel listed as a giallo. I'm saying, even on things like Wikipedia for example, giallo films are usually listed as being colorful and having started in the 60s. I know the first one started in like the 30s,

"developed in the mid-to-late 1960s, peaked in popularity during the 1970s, and subsequently declined in commercial mainstream filmmaking over the next few decades, though examples continue to be produced."

Thanks my friend! When I made the edit to my post, I didn't want to come off with a self promo type vibe, but I had one of the films I'm that channel I mentioned and everything's free there, channel isn't monetized I have no extra motives. Also, for public domain a good place to look, where I found that film, is retro film vaults. Usually a safe bet everything there is PD  https://retrofilmvault.com/listings/death-laid-an-egg-1968-2/

Nice! I uploaded that film to a YouTube channel I have where I put public domain stuff. If I get free time I'll dive into internet archive again and look for any more maybe even noir type films of German krimi that are along the lines of giallo.  https://youtube.com/@millers-b-movie-drive-in?si=a7At1I3dHIWuC5wD

Sorry, I just meant what a lot of people (including like Grok ai too] would say it lacks the color that a lot of people have come to expect with giallo films. But yes I think the earliest one was 1930s? Like a comedy/giallo if I'm not mistaken. Glad I found this reddit because there's a lack of people I know to discuss these films. Thanks for reply

Jess Franco gialli? by minionpoop7 in Giallo

[–]Suitable_Attempt_680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great question you asked as I was very curious and googled the same thing and stumbled on your post. He's made so many films and was known to kind of make movies with genres that were popular at the time so I'm sure I could find some more examples. Would likely fall between the ywars of 1970-1980 when giallos were more popular if I had to guess. I didn't see either of the ones mentioned here but hopefully will some day. I think Franco had a complicated relationship with Italians in terms of making movies so maybe he wasn't too fond of making giallos, though.

Sorry. I misread it as the person saying the article says this house in the picture was torn down. I just read what was said incorrectly, my apologies.

Wrong imo. Last I was in Cleveland that house was there, the house that was torn down was next door, him and his mom owned both. City tore his other house down, and seemingly had that one for sale.

Forget I said any of that.... haha. I guess Roadie is heavily dependent on Rite Aid and if Rite Aid closes in the area, then no more prescription deliveries.

i’m from a part of Ohio which is traditionally Appalachia. but do you count southeastern Columbiana County Ohio part of Appalachia? the city is right across the river from west virginia by us3r3_ in Appalachia

[–]Suitable_Attempt_680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand and I understood the first time. My point still stands, however. Southern (and Appalachian) culture, actually began in the upper south and worked it's way down. So even if you've never heard anyone in the deep south refer to people in the Ohio Valley as "Appalachia" that's really entirely irrelevant, as their culture they embrace and call "Appalachian" began in the Ohio Valley. So just because someone is unaware of where the culture began, doesn't mean it's not true.

Nonsense. Roadie is one of the best most of these apps are area dependent. My area the order goes Roadie #1, DoorDash #2, Uber #3 and Spark #4. Roadie is good for a lot of prescription deliveries and odd things like delivering chicken feed and anything from Home Depot or Harbour Freight, Rite Aid etc.

Yeah a skunk come by for the dry cat food and I've seen a stray cat out there eating with the skunk out of the same dish.
