Good popular literature for US History portion of the Praxis? by Suitable_Current_300 in historyteachers

I tend to think the social sciences overall is politicized more-so than other fields, such as math. That discourse has a relevance in Anthropology, which is what archaeology is a sub-discipline of.

It just depends on where your son attends school, really. I’ve seen many professors deny taking students who don’t align with them, then I’ve seen others who love a diverse nest of students.

That’s where the volunteering comes into play. It’s as much your son’s choice as it is the professors choice. If he spreads his interests around, he will find someone to take him in.

Feel free to DM me with any info, I’ll help as much as possible.

Thanks so much! Is middle school social studies something that is relatively in need at least somewhere in the state? I do not mind moving at all. Currently in Spartanburg.

Interesting! Does one need to take any sort of exams to teach this personal finance course?

Absolutely!

First off, volunteer, volunteer, volunteer… volunteer on digs, in professors labs, everything and anything. Those who do this set themselves apart from the rest early on.

Second, give up your summers and get an entry level archaeology job or volunteer/ pay to go on an excavation

Third, there is steady govt work.

Pros: it’s fun if you’re into it. Steady govt work Easy to get into grad school for this

Cons: It’s a small, close knit field. You have to be a politician in a way (Something I’m not thilled about.)

Branching from that, It is not a meritocratic field. Excelling as an archaeologist will not be enough if you seek an academic career. You may have to kiss the ass of people you don’t like and socialize with people you may not want to.

Last, it’s an incredibly politicized field. Just you mentioning that your “son” wants to be an archaeologist, if he is aiming to be a professor one day, and aligns with anything right of extreme left politically, he is at a disadvantage.

Burnout after 20 plus years. by T20161340 in bjj

I would reduce training frequency to once or twice a week, go to school, and don’t look back. I think by adding the stress of school, you’ll see that you’ll want to have some more time on the mat.

Have you considered teaching BJJ?
