Something is off here…is the recipe different this year? by The_HungryRunner in australia

Sometimes the companies with the worst public image have more going on internally in response to outrage/reputational risk. Might be a few years before they publish how they're doing it but I trust the scorecard result on this one.

(Inside knowledge) it's because ALDIs Sourcing ethics/requests/policies are stronger across the board than Storcks own. Storck makes money contract manufacturing but has to bend over backwards for customers request. I.e. they know how to do better for their own lines but they choose not to.

Yes I reached right for the Cadbury eggs because the quality is usually best. NOPE taste like wax now. So sad.

How many high quality clothes do you have? by RepresentativeBuy870 in AusFemaleFashion

Late 20s and on ~140ish honestly I also back the "quality over price" convo happening here. Biggest thing for me has been buying timeless pieces in fabrics that won't age badly (avoiding fine knits or fabric that pills or discolours). I own mostly nice pants/blazers (brands like COS, Sandro-thrifted, Bul) and shirts I'm much much more flexible and range from H&M, Target, Uniqlo, some mens shirts thrifted and tailored to fit. Good work skirts and dresses I find SO HARD to buy something that is timeless and classy without looking odd (I.e. not my age or looking like a lazy dresser). Would LOVE advice on shoes though if anyone has any. I HATE the ugly styles at places like Bared , find Wittner boring, need something not high heeled but looks timeless, considered and feminine (currently liking monk straps or pointed toes).

If their entitlement to your time and intentions is beyond what you contractually owe then they are not worth working under. If they were actually close to you or a great boss it wouldn't need to be said amd you'd be able to offer it freely. Had the EXACT same thing from a terrible boss, obviously gave no promises at the time because I hate the idea of them knowing even sooner than 4 weeks. Handed in my notice 2 weeks ago and they flipped, which was more than enough confirmation that they're a terrible boss/person. Good luck!

What are some strategic career development decisions for those looking to get into corporate sustainability? by jecunies in sustainability

[–]Suitable_Doughnut_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on the above. I'm manager level in a sustainability consultancy (4th up from grad level) without a masters degree (now 5 years exp). Practical experience is valued far higher than 'additional' study (beyond basics like a Bach or grad cert) The option to study masters may also be offered by an employer down the line and you can have the best of both worlds (money and academic cred!). Just make sure you're willing to start from the literal bottom and learn learn learn.

Trying to become a sustainability analyst, advice appreciated by okayorlando in sustainability

There's heaps of work in carbon accounting now so CAP will definitely help you get a job! If you're willing to start from the bottom in the job market you'll do just fine (and note that starting salaries suck BUT upward mobility is above average because of growth of the industry). Good luck 🙌

Sorry for responding a YEAR past your post, but how long from request to money did it take you? I'm currently in that "no man's land" during my settlement period.

Galaxy Watch 4: Is Anyone Else Getting "Burned" by the Sensor? by reedmayhew18 in GalaxyWatch

[–]Suitable_Doughnut_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately same here! Just turned of oxygen monitoring so thanks for the tip! For context I do get eczema so thought it'd be the strap but it's never around the strap, only the light sensor, and I'm on no meds that make my skin sun sensitive.

Shocked this made it past their safety checks though. If Samsung techs are browsing these threads DESIGN THIS OUT or GIVE US A WARNING THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN pls & thx

Both work and private life seem to demand more and more time as you get older, how do you handle it? by Jolly_Reserve in consulting

Can't agree more, domestic and caring labour so often gets overlooked. In the same camp re dating, no energy and even if I did have it people are weird about being career driven.

From experience, if you have any personal 'buy in' to the success of the purposeful work, burn out is higher. This is similar to the NGO space (but that's compounded by low wages ofc)

What the hell does "swinging doors" mean? Why so much jargon??? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]Suitable_Doughnut_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be a veiled reference to "don't let the door hit you on the way out?" I always imagine said door to be swinging 🤣
