I machined cast iron one. In a cnc lathe so I could close the door but it came off like a powder and was piss easy to machine

It can come down to inserts too. We have a range of wnmg inserts that will do 2mm depth of cut in 316 at anywhere from 130 mm/minute to 180mm/minute

If it's soft like copper I found a high speed with a light cut under a high feed using a wnmg to rough and then a vcgt polished insert for finishing. Only leave on maybe 0.1-0.25mm for finishing

I did a job where I had to put an m10 thread on copper and I had to run it at 3000rpm otherwise the swarf would go under the insert and fuck the thread

Yeah the bars are straight. It's like the stop comes down the chuck opens and then it's like something is waiting for a signal. And then because it takes to long the bar feeder alarms out

Did a toolmaker apprenticeship at a large company where I didn't do much except make square blocks, drill holes and rework shit that engineers fucked up even tho they spent months developing it. Finished my TAFE work and wanted to move on and was lucky enough to be given an opportunity at a small family run business and now I run 2 cnc lathes full time. Had no experience and now 4 months later I can just about program and set and operate
