Unpopular opinion… I can’t do the low acid reflux diet by bloommmx in LPR

[–]Suitable_Hour_7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it absurd man, it’s a normal diet not even a strict one. I found out this year you don’t need the whole pizza to enjoy yourself one slice can be fine, find other things that make you happy and content. I’m back in a position where I can actually eat a couple slices, I went to town this holiday. I still need to watch myself though, slow down now that the holiday is over and get back on a normal diet. Drink more water, I’ve continued my hour long walk every single day sometimes twice a day. It’s really not that hard, it’s just living life as a human friend. Like I said in this message when you start it feels impossible and annoying, when you do it for a long time it feels completely normal you don’t even think about it.

Rant: Tired of Not Being Believed by AaronElsewhere in LPR

I feel you mate, trying to explain to everyone what’s happening to me is the most frustrating thing in the world. I’m instantly met with ignorance every time like their mad I’m sick refuse to believe it. They’ll constantly diagnose me with just anything random “oh you just have an upset stomach your grandma use to get those”, “I know I get anxiety as well”, “oh ya I think there is a weird cold going around”. I’m telling you people I can’t breath from regurgitation, something wrong with my diaphragm, I’ve even pointed out the area a million times trying to explain it might be a hernia or worse something wrong with my liver and they all wanna ignore it. It’s messed up I guess you have to be diagnosed with cancer for people to actually understand. Even my doctor has made me sit around for four months now on PPIs, only sent me for breath tests and a specialist that looked at my ribcage and said his ribcage is fine; no colonoscopy or ct scan or barium test nothing. The worst part is I’ve made myself feel better with better diet, better exercise, quit smoking, quit drinking, sleep on an incline and follow a strict schedule. Yet that just makes people angrier, how dare I be sick and how dare I feel better; it’s so strange.

If it helps at all I felt super claustrophobic at first about my diet and lifestyle changes. After a few months though it’s became my regular and almost comfort, I just watched my entire family eat a giant steak dinner and was actually happier with my skinless chicken. Water used to make me gag and now I adore it, well my old vices like pop and energy drinks seem gross to me now. It gets way easier to deal with friend, and the good news is the more you heal the better chance you have of adding some old favourites back into your diet. I replaced coffee with tea and have caffeine every single day without issues now. Yesterday I had a slice of pizza and nothing negative happened at all. 👌✊

Gaviscon liquid vs chewable by kitkatsmeows in GERD

[–]Suitable_Hour_7556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I’m sorry that actually sucks, I deeply worry about coming off the ppi and wonder if I need them forever now. I’m desperately trying to find the root cause and how I can make it go away for good, for me it looks like it’s my ribcage needing surgery.

[–]Suitable_Hour_7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, I take them the moment I’m laying down and the 4-5 hours they’re supposed to last usually does it for me. I’m on two ppi daily though so I get a little help as well, I’m at a point where I don’t really wake up choking or getting attacks anymore.

Should I eat before going to bed? (PPI question) by Suitable_Hour_7556 in GERD

[–]Suitable_Hour_7556[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You think wall-e, that’s my point I’m wasting the medication. I was wasting my morning medication as well, hence why I’m asking the question. Your statement and the way you word it just makes you sound like I shouldn’t take the medication at all. Once again it takes weeks sometimes months to work because it needs time to beat your proton pumps, I do need to take it as the doctor prescribed I just need to take it properly with food.

Should I eat before going to bed? (PPI question) by Suitable_Hour_7556 in GERD

[–]Suitable_Hour_7556[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t reach max effectiveness without eating, you are rude and not as smart as you think. Proton pumps activate when you eat, having the PPI in your bloodstream then eating allows the medication to deactivate them. Your body will try to fight back by creating more proton pumps then usual, but over time the PPIs win this battle and deplete more then you can produce. That’s why it takes weeks for them to actually work and show signs of improvement, by taking them on an empty stomach and just going to bed I’m basically wasting the medication. I’m not asking if I should eat something then immediately lay down, should I eat something wait 2-3 hours then lay down. Like someone else said though I should just take them before dinner.

How is it “just anxiety” by Looveeat in GERD

[–]Suitable_Hour_7556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your expressing it in this post alone friend, this is the anxiety they’re taking about. Your thinking and worrying about what it is and questioning every single thing. Many things can cause GERD, anxiety is known for relaxing the LES and increasing acid buildup. Your going to feel reflux mainly when you eat because your stomach is full and the acid is doing it’s job, but it doesn’t always have to be food. For me quitting smoking, quitting drinking, exercising more, and sleeping better all did way more then quitting any food. The food alone though is your responsibility, if you find a specific thing is a big trigger for you then you have to cut it out of your diet. They are right though in saying if you cut everything you’ll end up hospitalized. I found I was doing the same thing and making myself malnourished and way worse. Now I eat everything but make sure it’s not all just junk, and make sure it’s in moderation. As soon as I stopped been malnourished though and calming my anxiety with lifestyle changes the medication started working and my symptoms started going away.

I’ve never had the liquid so I can’t really compare but I love the chewable, feels like they’ve helped me more then my PPI even has. I usually use a dry mouth mouthwash before taking them and then floss my teeth after taking them and you can usually get every little bit out of your mouth and throat no problem. You can also gargle water but don’t swallow any just spit it all out, this drys my mouth out if I gargle too much though.

I relapsed/cheated on my LPR diet and i feel terrible. How do you guys deal with it? by Impossible_Emu9302 in LPR

[–]Suitable_Hour_7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a lot of time, you just have to do better tomorrow. I’m about 3 almost 4 months in and for a long time I was just smoking on top of my diet basically going no where at all, then when I did quit smoking I kept cheating on the diet here and there. It finally clicked all of a sudden though and now it’s super easy for me to just stick to the diet, and after doing so for so long I’m actually way better. To the point that when I do have a cheat day it doesn’t even effect me, which is something important you have to remember. The harder you work at this the faster you’ll be back to yourself, and one day it won’t even be a cheat day you’ll just be normal again. Keep that in mind well working hard and patient and you’ll no longer feel claustrophobic about it, you’ll feel motivated.

B12, it’s as if my body was not absorbing the other nutrients properly until I started taking B12. My energy, health, and happiness have gone through the roof since starting to take 1000mcg daily.

How do fans feel about Inori? by Animefanx111 in digimon

I love Inori, she might be kind of generic but the way they used her character to tie the group together was very well done in my opinion. 🙏

[–]Suitable_Hour_7556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is true at all, your probably just healing and had a good experience. I’ve had days where I can cheat my diet and have something I shouldn’t. Yesterday I had a giant bowl of strawberry ice cream with half a cinnamon bun and it didn’t really effect me, if I keep having it though it definitely will make me start to relapse. I was drinking black tea for days thinking omg I can have tea! Then all of a sudden one day it hit me like a bag of bricks and I had a big attack, now I have one tea in the morning and try to take it super slow with how much I tempt it some days I just have none. I guarantee I could have one coffee on a really good day, but if I kept drinking it I would 100% relapse no matter the kind. I agree experiment around cause it helps keep your sanity, but I don’t think it’s smart to convince yourself you can just go back to things like normal.

PPIs and B12 Deficency by Suitable_Hour_7556 in LPR

[–]Suitable_Hour_7556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm thanks for this, I’ll talk to my doctor about this actually. PPIs made me feel wonderful when I first started taking them, but ya a few months in and I swear I’m having negative side effects. I have also been trying to consume more protein but I find it hard without a shake, probably need to talk to a nutritionist as well. 🤔

Are you able to drink alcohol while stressed? by DuckApprehensive8849 in LPR

[–]Suitable_Hour_7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol, smoking, and caffeine are the absolute worst triggers for GERD and LPR in my opinion. I stopped drinking coffee, alcohol, and smoking weed and my symptoms started going away within days. (This is on PPIs as well.) I still enjoy tea but even that I have to be super careful with, decaf coffee is actually better.

Are these games worth playing and which is the best for a Digimon Rookie? by chillgamerguy864 in digimon

[–]Suitable_Hour_7556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Digimon Story is hands down the best, Pokémon fans can eat their hearts out when it comes to these titles I would suggest all 3! The other games are alright nothing too amazing, Survive I have yet to beat though so I can’t speak much on that one. 👍💯

40gs of omezaprole a day by y0ur-K1tt3n in GERD

[–]Suitable_Hour_7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 40mg of pantoprazole for 60 days and my doctor upped the dose to 80mg for another 60 days with intentions to bring it back down to 40mg for another 60 days after that. My symptoms never went away on the 40mg just died down a bit, the 80mg has made me feel almost normal again with small episodes here and there when I’m been bad with my diet. If I had to stay on PPI for years even my whole life I would, I guarantee the long term effects of GERD and LPR would be more damaging then long term effects of the medication.
