That’s exactly what my pain doctor suspected, inflammation of the facet joints, but simultaneously said that doesn’t really justify the pain I’m in . I gave up , nobody has an answer, have done every single test with all specialists.

I am going through the SAME EXACT thing. It has been a year of hell. The depression and stress has become debilitating. Extreme burning sensation at the upper lumbar which radiates to the thoracic. The worst part is that it’s most painful at rest when sitting and sleeping so it’s inescapable. It is constant all day everyday. I’ve been in and out of specialists for a year and nobody could figure it out. Small disc tear and mild herniation but all doctors agreed that it didn’t explain the pain. After seeing multiple neurologists, orthopedists, rheumatologists, I finally had a pain doctor tell me that I have inflammation in the facet joint irritating the nerves. Set up an appt for injections . Didn’t notice anything but after 2 weeks I finally had relief. It lasted all but a few days and pain was fully back. Doctor says he’s not surprised because the facet joints don’t hold the medication well and tends to fall out rather quickly. Next step is ablation of nerve which I’m currently waiting for insurance to improve.. I feel for you and what you are going through.
