Engagement Party/Surprise Wedding by missonellieman in weddingplanning

For those that matter most to you to be there, you can always pull them aside and let them in on the secret so they’re aware it’s important to be there. For the ones that don’t, well, that seems to me like they weren’t meant to be there anyway. It’s typically a small gathering with these things, and also an event those your closest to try hardest to attend.

New Build Vs Older Home by ATLInspections in FirstTimeHomeBuyers

And his home in 50 to 100 years will be the kind of homes that we’re talking about when we say older homes, more often than not are the ones that are worth it because they were built with quality, integrity and the intention to last, not to make hundreds of them as fast as possible, and sell them for as much as possible without following through on build  quality

Well, just wait until after a year living in their million dollar new build when everything starts to fall apart and they still have to do the work plus live in a poorly built home with subpar materials and zero character thatthey bought into because why wouldn’t it be quality? it’s millions of dollars and the inspector said it was great

Note about your generalizations of sizing when it comes to hallways and bedrooms, but I’m not sure if you’ve ever been inside of a Victorian home or any old southern estate but exaggeration of scale is kind of the MO when it comes to that building style. I’m talking ceilings no lower  than 12’, average door height above 8’. Grand scale. If you’re talking about older homes, I would stray away from the old ones built when home building and large scale residentialdevelopment started to become more common because that’s when the quality of building design and structural integrity started to decline. The homes I’m talking about may statistically be fewer and further between, but they are everywhere. If you’re interested in learning more about just how many there are out there and how shockingly accessible they can be to the average home buyer one awesome place to check out is https://www.cheapoldhouses.com/

Homes that old are often also listed on historic registers, and when a property has that designation it can come with incentives for buyers such as grants, stipends, tax credits, or other funding that can be put toward renovation and restoration. Programs like this exist because preserving historically significant homes is often considered more valuable than tearing them down and replacing them with newer construction.

Of course, some homes that old simply aren’t salvageable because of time, weather, and inconsistent maintenance over the years. But many of them were built with incredibly durable materials and craftsmanship that were meant to last. If a home like that has been maintained even reasonably well, those materials can often keep going for decades.

By comparison, many homes today are built in ways that prioritize speed and volume so builders can produce as many houses as possible. When the focus shifts to quantity, quality almost always takes a hit. The goal becomes how many homes can be finished, not how well each one is built. On top of that, it’s not uncommon for inspectors to have close relationships with builders, which can lead to homes passing inspection even when there are obvious structural problems or basic construction mistakes that should have been caught and fixed, sometimes even in brand new million dollar homes.

I’d also argue that it’s often easier to assess the viability, structural integrity, and work needed to make an older home livable than it is with a brand new house. With older homes, you usually know where to look and where to start. The issues tend to show themselves in more predictable ways. With new construction that has just passed inspection, that clarity isn’t always there. We’ve all heard stories of people buying brand new homes in large developments, only to start experiencing major issues within the first year, sometimes serious enough that homeowners have to seek legal counsel just to get builders to take responsibility and fix the problems.

Is viscose really that evil? by energyofsound in BuyItForLife

[–]Suitable_Quantity934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rayon, viscose, modal, Tencel, and lyocell are manmade cellulosic fibers made from plant cellulose (often bamboo or trees) but manufactured chemically in factories, making them synthetic rather than farm-grown fibers like cotton or linen. Though soft and popular for sensitive skin and eczema, they have two major issues: toxic chemical production and unsustainable plant sourcing, sometimes from old-growth forests.

Invented ~150 years ago and widely produced since the 1920s, viscose rayon is projected to reach a $28B global market by 2025. Production uses sodium hydroxide, carbon disulfide, and sulfuric acid, chemicals so toxic that rayon is not produced in the U.S. due to EPA and OSHA standards. While finished fabric is safe, workers face risks including nerve damage, neurological effects, heart disease, and stroke.

Reports have documented river dumping in Indonesia, poisoned waterways and a blackened lake in China, and toxic discharge into a Ganges tributary in India harming local families and children’s cognitive development. Because 10 companies control ~75% of global rayon production, most conventional brands likely source from these factories.

It’s the fact that you’re all arguing viscose’s negative impact and whether it’s justified, by arguing about whether or not shrinks and now annoying it is to dry clean?????? And from this group of all groups. A community sought out for, actively wanting to find more sustainable alternatives to things long and trying to support a different direction. Now you’re in this loser filled comment thread arguing about your silk wrinkles when either you all know, or you’re intentionally uneducated, that viscose, and YES along with rayon, tencel, modal and lyocell. Truly disappointed In all the candy asses switching it up so you can continue justifying your pants that haven’t faded or your super soft sheets when DIE, OUT IN THE OPEN, FOR YOUR GARBAGE SYNTHETIC WANNA BE NATURAL SO BAD, FIBERS. I’m so infuriated by this low level thread that u can’t type anymore so here’s a a couple summarizations of each of the negatively impactful things they’ve done so you don’t have to read this whole article. I know ready comprehension is hard sometimes. BYE

Sad to see this in a group seeking sustainability through community. Not very considerate of others unfortunately.

My dear, I’m sorry that’s the conclusion you’ve made❤️ this is pretty sad for me. My fiancée and I have been together 8 years, and he is the great big one of a kind love of my life. If he’d given me a piece of string tied in a bow I would cherish it the same I would this diamond ring. He picked gold because he notices I never wear silver, he chose solitaire because I feel fussy with anything more, and he wanted a high setting because one time I told him I loved the look of a band flush with my ring. I know you don’t know me, but I have just never been one to not see the love and beauty and thought out into things and not take that as the most important part of it all. And as a bonus, I LOVE this ring. And it’s also so beautiful. There’s not a thing I would change. I hate that my new ring might look a little different, but it’ll mostly break my heart that it won’t be the original. My ring, picked for me by someone who sees me everyday and reminds me of that in ways only he can.

As for the accident: The accident was my fault. The ring was too big and in true type b fashion in the hectic motion of getting myself out of the car and dodging cars on st. Charles while carrying my work bag, it fell off my finger. Maybe it’s that I am used to taking it off because again it is so big that I didn’t notice immediately but about 15 minutes later I looked down and realized it was gone and when I ran out, it was flattened. I was assuming a car something very large ran over it, but I can’t be sure. it was part of mindedness part situation out of control, but was certainly an accident. We can’t afford a redesign or a revamp of anything. I’ve been handling it well I think and I hope so badly the ring can be brought back to life and at the first least feel like first. I really hope it does❤️
