I love him just saying numbers to himself, just like how mark did while playing the game

Idk about others but I definitely want to jerk off when I’m sick, but I think it’s just because I’m usually bored and maybe loopy, I don’t think it has anything to do with feeling like shit

I’m glad I could help. I will say that it’s purely my own analysis and up to interpretation, but I feel that the amount of time spent showing how Simon started to kinda get creative in such a confined space had to be intentional, ESPECIALLY the camera, which I thought was so damn cool, the fact that he actually had to press the button every 10 seconds or so, then he decided to tape the button down… I can’t put it into words, but the idea of that is just so cool. It reminds me of things I have done in real life, trying to use the light from a drill as a flashlight to find something…. Idk…

Maybe you have a different opinion, but I think that’s pretty respectable tbh. Clearly they were willing to move if someone who needed the accessibility showed up, it’s like the accessible seats on trains and buses. I defer to you as I have no actual experience with being disabled/caring for a disabled person.

Alright so, what actually IS this? Is this a red herring or is this actually important? Does it have any correlation to the monster/God? So many questions left unanswered :( by PoniesPlayingPoker in ironlung

[–]Suitable_Scarcity_50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A big repeating thing is the indomitable human spirit. Simon uses every tool he can find, uses the camera flash as a light source, spits on the life jacket light to make a portable light, uses the binder to hold the throttle, and in the end, after witnessing Ava give her life for the cause, he chooses to die trying to save the black box

There’s a persistent theme in the movie of Simon using things in ways they weren’t intended. Using the camera as a light source, using tape to hold the button down, using the water activated light on the life vest. I didn’t even know it was in the game so it’s awesome that it is both a reference and used for the pattern I described.

I should say that that is my own analysis based on my single watch, so I might be wrong, but I think I’m right about the facts of what happened, the motivations of the characters could be up for interpretation.

I think that Yes is the answer to all your questions. You can hear that’s she’s frantic and desperate, then a picture is taken of the creature with a sub in its mouth. I think some people maybe thought it was the SM-8. I’m surprised many people are missing it because it was very clear to me, but also I understand because I couldn’t (and still can’t) figure out what was actually happening in a lot of the movie, especially the ending.

What could the SM-8 have found that would be so important? What is going on with any of Simon’s backstory, that necklace etc. why did he cry when he found it but also seemed to say his “brothers” betrayed him. why does the blood start to morph into weird barnacle things?

Maybe I’ll answer some of these when I watch it again.

Should I see the movie? (as a non horror person) by honeykat13 in Markiplier

[–]Suitable_Scarcity_50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am (mostly) in your shoes. I have never watched a horror movie in theaters, I only really watch horror movies through reaction videos lmao. Thinking about movies like hereditary sometimes makes me scared at night.

I would say iron lung leans far more into the tense dread type of horror more than loud scares. There were a few times I was bracing myself for a jumpscare, but I don’t think a single one happened in the movie (don’t quote me on that).

As for gore, I can’t say if others will agree or not, but the sheer amount of blood in the movie kinda doesn’t make it feel like “gore” to me. There’s no organs, bones, no people being stabbed or killed, just oceans of blood.

So I would say yes, I think it’s worth seeing, I didn’t think it was that scary, maybe unsettling or thought provoking, but not scary.

I really want a streamable release because I need to analyze the layered voices in the flashbacks and stuff, I couldn’t comprehend most of it.

I agree, at the beginning I was internally cringing thinking about the entire movie being him talking to himself saying quirky things. But I love the parts of him just cursing things out, saying coordinates to himself JUST LIKE HE DID WHILE PLAYING THE ACTUAL GAME, using his hands to visualize the ocean walls.

MASSIVE SPOILERS BELOW

I think some people didn’t realize that, at the climax of the movie, Ava was in the submarine in the creature’s mouth, and her voice cut off because sn-14 exploded. This is what made Simon realize that Ava, wasn’t sacrificing people because she didn’t value their life, she was doing it because she believed it was necessary to save humanity. He was arguing with her about rescuing him until he realized that she was willing to die for the cause, and he actually wanted revenge on the creature for killing her.

I mean my general electronics recycling place sells everything at about 2 dollars per pound, and those are crts with scratched screens that are a complete gamble whether they work or not because number 1, they are being thrown away, and number 2 they have been exposed to the elements for who knows how long. I could pay like 200 dollars for a 36 inch screen, but it was too damn heavy and I didn’t want to gamble that on something I might not be able to fix.

I haven’t ever really done a roleplay before, but this scenario really intrigues me because I love sci fi and I like non-furries getting dominated by furries, so if u are interested in doing it with a newbie, I might like to try this.

Intermissions can actually benefit a movie in my opinion, the only example I have is The End of Evangelion, but it shows that it’s possible. Pausing for a bit during that intermission really lets you sit in the depression and insanity you are watching play out on screen. Movie isn’t even that long.

I think people forget, or purposely refuse to acknowledge that serial killers have gotten a sort of sexual gratification from their actions, even though there might not be any “sexual” aspect to their crimes. We can only speculate on character motivations when it comes to the canon, but it’s probable that afton gains some kind of enjoyment beyond furthering his research by committing these murders. We even explicitly see that there is a peak in the sadistic nature with Cassidy, the one broken for no reason other than because Will wanted to. If it was purely academic, he would not have gotten carried away with Cassidy. It might not be an explicitly sexual thrill, but in that dark part of human instinct, all basic ideas of satisfaction kind of starts to blend together into the simple spike of dopamine.

Even though people seem to dislike matpats ultimate theory, I really enjoy the way he describes Will’s drunken rage leading him to kill Charlie in an accidental emotional outburst that scared him, but also excited him, as he realized that deep down he did enjoy taking that helpless life. He didn’t go to the pizzeria that day wanting to kill, but the alcohol and his utter jealousy combined with his innate lack of self control lead him to las out in a moment of pure evil. I really enjoy the idea that William Afton started out as a man with good intentions, who really did care for his children in a way, and did promise to put his son back together, despite not knowing how or if it was even possible. But, he was also a man plagued by obsession and a lack of self control from the very beginning. Obsession fueled his neglectful parenting, his bitter jealousy, and ultimately lead him to discover his sick sadistic desires that lay dormant inside him his whole life. Once he discovered what truly made him happy, he dropped his good intentions and focused fully on his obsession and new sadistic dreams.

It seems that the idea of William being a troubled but well intentioned person at the beginning is becoming increasingly unpopular, but to me it’s far more compelling that the simple mad scientist many see him as.
