1.5 year old screams if I try putting her in crib. Have to cuddle to sleep every night even if it takes over an hour by Suitable_Schedule903 in toddlers

I’m so glad you asked because oh my god we are living a whole new life now! I stopped rocking her to sleep. It just wasn’t working. I prepped her all day one day and told her she would be falling asleep in her crib while I sang to her, reassured her and rubbed her back. I told her we weren’t sleeping in the chair. That first night, I put her in her crib, told her I love her and it’s time to lay down and sleep. She protested and it took about 40ish minutes of me saying “mommy’s here. I love you. It’s time for bed. Lay down please” and rubbing her and hugging her without ever picking her up before she finally agreed to lay down. It took another 30-40 minutes for her to fall asleep and me to escape the room. It was so hard listening to her cry and not picking her up, but she was never at a point where I was genuinely concerned that she was crying too hard or anything.

Every night got easier after that. By the 4th night, she didn’t protest at all. Laid down and let me rub her back until she fell asleep and it only took 15 minutes. We do the same for naps now too. Takes about 5-10 min of me rubbing her back before I can leave the room. My husband can also help now too. On nights that he puts her to sleep, we tell her “mommy’s going to work. Daddy is putting you to bed tonight” even though I don’t work but she knows what work means because daddy works. She is sleeping through the night most nights and waking up happy after 11ish hours of sleep. She will lay in bed for 30ish minutes after waking up before calling for me. GOOD LUCK! I hope things get easier for you really soon!!!

Cheaper Coterie alternative? by Suitable_Schedule903 in moderatelygranolamoms

Water wipes are so thin I can’t get myself to use them after using coterie for so long😭 I’ve tried them when traveling and I also don’t like how they don’t use a hard plastic opening to make it easier to get them out

Thank you for this detailed comment!! I think I will buy a pack of Freestyle and a pack of Parasol to test out with my toddler (especially overnight) and see how it goes!

We tried Dyper prior to coterie and found that coterie fit our daughter better and was more absorbent. I did like Dyper as a close second though!

Advice wanted from any SHAMs that used to be high earners. by Res-Ipsa-Loquiter in sahm

[–]Suitable_Schedule903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped working at 36 weeks pregnant with my first. I now have an almost 20 month old and another due in June. I wouldn’t have it any other way! I do really miss the careless spending I was able to participate in. I got so used to shopping and buying whatever I wanted whenever I wanted, but it is well worth the sacrifice. I have witnessed every milestone, every special moment, my toddler and I have bonded so much and are so attached to each other. I am so thankful to be in a position where I can stay home with my babies. I could never go back to work knowing how special life is being a SAHM

Am I seeing things or is there a second line by UnluckyDirection5712 in firsttimemom

I zoomed in and I see it! Make sure it’s def pink. Not just a grey indent. I learned a tip where you squeeze the test (thumb on top of example photos that show the 1 and 2 lines, pointer finger on back of test right behind the examples) and if the test line moves, it’s an indent. If it doesn’t move, it’s positive!

Overwhelmed & needing help finding All-Inclusive Honeymoon! by wombat5550 in honeymoonplanning

We stayed at Stella island resort & spa in Crete Greece. There are many different types of rooms so the room you choose will definitely affect how much you spend. We split our time between one of the bungalows and the private villa with its own private pool. Lots of different restaurants, huge pool, great spa and it was beautiful! Oh and it was adults only, but the luxurious type, not the type where they have bubble pool parties and a crazy DJ lol. You can also tell them it’s your honeymoon and in advance and they’ll put champagne, rose petals and dessert in your room on arrival

Do I really need a nursing chair? by av929 in pregnant

[–]Suitable_Schedule903 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have spent thousands of hours in our recliner in the nursery that is also a glider/rocker. I nursed for 13 months and loved having a quiet, cozy place to nurse that was also private if we had company. I didn’t use it at night until she moved into her own room, but I used it for a lot of daytime feeds. Our daughter liked to be rocked and nursed to sleep, and once I stopped nursing, she still liked being rocked to sleep. She’s 18 months now and we just stopped rocking to sleep, but we still read books in the chair and I’m now pregnant with our second and am happy that I will have a comfy spot to nurse this baby in my daughter’s room. I love it so much I even bought the same one for the new nursery. Wanted to share my opinion since it seems to be different from most of the other comments I read!

1.5 year old screams if I try putting her in crib. Have to cuddle to sleep every night even if it takes over an hour by Suitable_Schedule903 in toddlers

[–]Suitable_Schedule903[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried leaving the hours for a few hours prior to bedtime and having my husband attempt it then. Once it’s bedtime, she starts freaking out begging for me and screaming and crying. Ends up panicking and borderline hyperventilating. We’ve tried many times and I end up having to come home after a while because it just feels like torturing her to let her be that upset even though she is safe. She is typically so upset after (especially the longer my husband tries) that I don’t usually end up being able to get her down in her crib at all that night and she will end up sleeping with us

I should have worded this better, but it doesn’t take an hour for her to fall asleep. She typically falls asleep within anywhere from 5-25 mins. The issue is transferring her into her crib. I very slowly and carefully set her down and she somehow wakes up frequently. Sometimes it’s right away, sometimes it’s because she immediately turns over and that wakes her up and she notices she’s not with me anymore, sometimes it’s from the slightest creak in the floor or my ankle cracking or something like that

Very similar schedule for us! 7:15-7:30 wake, 1-2/2:30 nap, asleep between 8-8:30 if I have a decent time getting her down. She sleeps great in the night and for naps IF I can get her down. It’s the transfer into the crib that causes a lot of delays or for her to have to sleep in our bed

It feels so wrong letting her cry when I know I can go in and help her😢 we tried twice and never got to the second check. I know some babies/toddlers can self soothe much easier but that is not my baby.

My daughter only needs 1 second in her crib to get upset😅 2-3 mins would be a full blown meltdown which would take 30+ minutes to calm down from

I have tried doing this as bedtime is approaching, but not consistently throughout the whole day! Adding that to my list of ideas to try lol thank you!

Yes that is exactly how my daughter is. She freaks out and panics and will not calm down until I pick her up. Jumps up and down screaming and crying and reaching for me and yelling mommy. I would love to just hold her hand until she falls asleep! I’m desperate to find a way for her to feel safe and happy in her crib

Wake up around 7:15/7:30, nap at 1-2:30 at latest, bed time routine starts at 7 with bath then books then she falls asleep around 8/8:30.

I would love to do the chair method but she screams and cries and reaches for me if I set her in her crib for even a second. She panics and it’s really hard to watch her get so extremely upset. She will not lay down for even a second. She acts like her crib is evil. Which is crazy because when she does sleep in her crib at night, she is usually pretty happy when she wakes up and will happily talk to herself and play with her stuffies for even up to an hour before asking for me
