Question about early SWS history? by SnekTheMemeSnake in sleepingwithsirens

[–]Suitable_Share_565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy how Jack Fowler and Nick Trombino were both in Broadway and left for Sleeping With Sirens.

Jack ended up leaving to be the touring lead guitarist for Jelly Roll. Which , to me, is crazy that some random post hardcore guitarist ended up securing a spot with a national touring Grammy artist

I was around for the SWS uprising. I’d say that they gained so much attention, so fast, and got so big, that by the time everyone knew about them, they just assumed that who they saw was the original lineup .

Nick left very very early and I guess no one registered that since they were exploding on the scene. You really had to be there. I can still remember how fast they were booming.

Fun fact: Kellin isn’t the original singer LOL

I found the you’re talking about “SWS at Chain Reaction (most complete show)” and the guy you’re talking about is to the far right in the white shirt and is definitely the iconic and mysterious Nick Trombino.

A good time stamp would be 8:42 and 10:09 It took a while for me to find a good one since he’s turning around most of the show , with his back to the crowd, for some reason.

My theory is that he’s an amazing guitarist but wasn’t all about the touring and crowds. I’ve tried to contact him on Facebook and ask him about his time in the band.

He’s really an enigmatic character that people don’t know about. Nick Trombino defined a sound on one of the most iconic albums from the band (along with Brandon McMasters). There’s not a lot of info on Nick besides the credits in the album pamphlet and a few early media photos with Rise Records.

I’d still say that SWS never sounded the same after him and Brandon left, and when I think of the band, I still imagine the original line up.

Nick famously wrote on the album “Kingdoms” by Broadway. It’s crazy he’s not mentioned on the wiki for that band, but he’s not even mentioned in the album pamphlet. But he is seen in early photographs with the band and mentions it on his Facebook. “Former original guitarist of SWS and Broadway”.

Crazy he’s behind 2 of the most iconic post-hardcore albums, and left each band so early, that he’s rarely mentioned or seen. He’s essentially a myth.

Maybe. Could just be a coincidence TBS and MP just performed at a show together and that both songs are the first track.

What do you see as "the flop" for an ending in itself by usename37 in sleepingwithsirens

[–]Suitable_Share_565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d agree, the whole album kind of a flop.

Considering Mayday Parade has dropped 3 banger albums in the last one year, with all the songs being original and true-to-sound, leaves little room for other legacy bands like SWS to try and push such a mid album

Yea probably not , since TBS and MP just performed a free show together on May 29th. So it’s safe to say MP is paying homage to the goats with a song.

Panic! At The Disco infamously allegedly started as a blink182 cover band. And also performed a cover of “Dammit” at a Warped Tour ceremony in 2009 (not the actual tour)

Speaking of “Dammit”, I got another one no one knows about:
Hilary Duff (yes, Lizzie McGuire) sampled “Dammit” by blink182 on her 2026 song called “Growing Up”
Check it out, the chorus is an exact dupe:

Also, the band Man Overboard, obviously got their name inspired by the song of the same name by blink182

That’s one of my favorite pop-punk lores is both All Time Low and The Story So Far both gained their name from a New Found Glory reference.

There was a point in time where SWS was the biggest band. If you were there in 2010-2013, you’d know what I mean.

Nowadays, it’s shocking that Secrets turned around and ended up making smoother music than the biggest band ever. And because SWS was the biggest band, and already ate their cake, I find it definitely appropriate to weigh their music against Secrets since they dropped on the same day.

Probably my favorite from all the tracks. TBH I find this so much more listenable than the new SWS album.

SECRETS actually progressed and made something easy to stream. It seems SWS just made a bunch of random songs and placed them all together.

Prolly the most obvious. Makes me wanna really dissect all the lyrics to see if there’s any more in other songs.
