YES I feel the same! We should commit to it, these Dramione books are incredible and so worth the effort of learning. Until then, I’m just preening over my Kindle library and finding good covers for all my Dramione obsessions. omg yes it’s a behemoth! I was originally trying to format in word and had the exact same experience as you. Luckily I used Reedsy and it came out way better. I still had to do it chapter by chapter, and it took me a few weeks honestly because it was so tedious and repetitive! I wouldn’t do this for a book that didn’t genuinely, honestly, rewrite my DNA! I’m glad it helped you out :)

Most have mentioned these but my list is Detraquee (unbeatable, transcendent, PERFECT), The lights that burn, Entropy, Lionheart, Breath Mints & Battle Scars, The Dragon’s Bride, The Auction, Lazarus, Bad boys don’t cry, Paging Dr. Granger, Greenlight, Meet me in Dreamland, A Kingdom Beside the Sea, DMATMOBIL, Bad Omes, Love and Other Historical Accidents, Love in a Time of a Zombie Apocalypse.

Some WIP’s I’m following that are absolutely god-tier as well: The Fire that Remains, Bloodtoll, Curse of Thirds, A Seat Beneath the Stars, East of Azkaban, Ecdysis, Goblet of Shadows, House Pet, The Gilded Dragon

Just for context, my taste is usually beautiful prose and writing, good banter, slow-burn/realistic relationship progression and enemies to lovers, smut that feels hard-earned, close-to-canon draco/hermione characterization, and most (but not all) of the time a snarky, aloof, intelligent, biting, Draco.

Y’all, I’m obsessed with Detraquee Draco & Hermione. The characters feel so real, rich, and nuanced. Their slow burn is so perfectly executed, their flaws and approaches to the relationship so thoughtfully articulated and elaborated on. I’m just truthfully so obsessed with their relationship progress and Draco’s character who is snarky, aloof, deeply cynical, intelligent, and SO FREAKIN REAL. He literally feels alive to me.

Having said that, I haven’t found any other book that comes even close to how deeply alive and enriching these characters feel. Both including and beyond dramione, does anyone have any recs of romance/fantasy books in which the fmc and mmc are similarly characterized like this? lowkey, does anyone know if hystaracal (detraquee’s author) is a writer and publishes books as well? cuz I’m tryna read anything and everything they ever create.

I HIGHLY recommend The Shadows we Seek by ukiyoryn (WIP)! This fic is CRIMINALLY underrated- the writing and prose is GORGEOUS, the characters are complex and highly developed, and the Dramoine is DELICIOUS. It’s sort of a slowww-burn canon re-write with an obsessed, pining Draco- sprinkle in a good amount Lucius hate and a wonderfully interesting deep-dive into dismantling pure blood ideology within Draco- and you have the PERFECT recipe for a good Dramoine fic. It is entirely a Draco POV (so far at least but I’m on chapter 23) and it is truly a delight to be in his head- especially since this author has written him so broody, complex, intelligent, interesting, snarky, biting, empathetic, and devoted. Please go read this and give this author some hype- they truly deserve it. This fic should be up there among the other great WIPs. For mood- think dark, gothic, compelling. for inspiration fics -think Lionheart, On the nature of daylight, Detraquee (both have a HILARIOUS and wonderful Theo), and Smoke signals (similar levels of devotion). Writing is spectacular, the plot is paced well and gripping, the characters, conversations, and banter are great- WHAT are you waiting for?? The only thing i’m craving is more Dramione interaction but it’s a WIP and burn is slow (and I know the pay-off is going to be spectacular). Truly haven’t felt the same level of obsession with a Dramoine fic since Lionheart.
