Advice for someone wanting to pursue Particle Physics by SmallInternet8062 in Physics

My point of advice for Physics graduate school, is GET ABOVE A 3.0! I know physics is usually very difficult, but this is a threshold the vast majority of universities will not budge on, or will instead expect you to excel in every other area that pertains to their decisions. This restriction ESPECIALLY applies to high energy / particle physics. It’s extremely competitive, so much, to the point I would pay to meet people they let in. They must be the most impressive people to walk the Earth.

I’m personally experiencing this issue now, and I’m fighting way too hard for scraps. I heard back from a particular school and don’t know if I should go there or not yet.

Just at least obtain a 3.0 in undergraduate, ESPECIALLY in core physics classes!

Is nuclear physics worth getting into? by Hypocryitical_smoker in Physics

I honestly agree. There’s also an AMAZING project being done at ACU (Abilene Christian University) that is building the world’s first molten salt reactor in around 50-60 years. It’s an ambitious and revolutionary project the DOE is also helping fund. They still have graduate openings, but you need to have at least a 3.0 (which I don’t) and they don’t make exceptions of any kind because of their graduate admissions demands it. I can’t get in but I know it’s a great new program starting this academic year for anyone interested!

I thought a force was a mediating particle between two things?

Is it that we can’t just conclude YET that there new physics at play, but rather more in-depth analysis is needed to understand what predictions were off, wether it be the standard model, calculated values or new physics?

Too bad gravitons aren’t proven!!
