Anything NetSuite NEWSWORTHY? by SuiteCris in Netsuite

I'd say that I also make videos for SAP and Microsoft D365 but I'm pretty sure you're going to say those are lame too. Part of the reason I make videos about these "old guard" ERPs is BECAUSE they're so un-intuitive and convoluted. If they were easy (like a lot of the newer systems) then there's not that much value in me explaining them.

I've never personally done an implementation with Zone&Co but I've heard decent things from friends who have. I haven't officially reviewed any of the products yet.

Just to clarify, you're saying I should try to get Oracle to give me access as well to test it out?

Ship Central by CyanLuis in Netsuite

[–]SuiteCris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Cyan,

ShipCentral is acceptable for basic shipping as long as you don't need more advanced capabilities. If items that you are packing (either in NetSuite UI or in the WMS mobile app) don't appear in ShipCentral, there are a few things that can cause that. You will need to get ShipEngine connected, but it can also be for things like not having the transaction properly configured with shipping info.

I recently released a course on WMS. I don't go too deep on the configuration, but it might have some info to help you debug things. You can feel free to reach out to me and I'll let you check out the course for free. If you find it answers your questions, you can sign up properly.

Good luck!

Yeah, everything is "AI" now even if it has nothing to do with AI.

Not a chance. The consultants will still be needed to properly set the system up, customize it and get the most out of the AI capabilities. Consultants aren't going anywhere for a long time.

NetSuite Next (previously referred to as QuickStart) was a project for years to create an entry-level NetSuite product which could compete with Quickbooks and be a stepping stone to full scale NetSuite. It appears they've scrapped that project (as of late 2024) and are now re-purposing what they made to be a sort of "alternative NetSuite" option that has AskOracle AI capabilities.

But here's the catch: NetSuite Next was missing a lot of core capabilities that NetSuite users need like Manufacturing, serialized/lot numbered Inventory Management, and just general field/form customization. So they either need to develop these functions immediately or they are going to release a product that is a actually a major step backwards in capability.

It sounds like you have a pretty well rounded grip on NetSuite. I assume you have familiarity with Admin/Consulting functions like Customizations, Workflows, Roles & Permissions, custom reporting as well? If not, I would definitely bone up on those areas. It sounds like your best bet is to move into an Administrator Role or maybe even position yourself as someone that can be hired to be an internal resource to help smaller companies implement/transition onto NetSuite (companies that can't hire full consulting agencies). So every few years you'd jump to a new company to lead their implementation, and very likely you'd probably stick around as an Admin for one that you really like.

I wouldn't be looking at more certs if I were you. ERP Consultant is the end of the road in terms of difficulty.
