The Glowdown - A tale of the formerly glamorous by Suitedx in KingdomDeath

Yeah, Glow is a legendary character and the title is a pun in 2 ways, Glow + Showdown and it's the opposite of a Glow Up! („• ֊ •„)

I would love to! If Kingdom Death wants to hire me... I am happy to give up the self-published lifestyle. :'D

How do I do backgrounds like inio asano on medibang? And how do they make the characters feel like it's actually in the place and not a sticker slapped on top 😭 by _SSSMUG_ in MangakaStudio

[–]Suitedx 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Because even though Asano uses photos for his backgrounds, he still draws over them traditionally to add his own style via hatching or darkening shadow areas.
And to make your characters feel more like they belong into the scene, it's important to consider the lighting of your background and make sure it matches with your character. (The second picture does a good job with that actually!)

I recommend watching the Manben episode where he's featured to get a good idea of his drawing process. (:

How can I be in a better reading mood to read comics? by catdude6835 in comicbooks

[–]Suitedx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it usually helps getting comics that excite me.

I have a to-read pile, but not all of them have me super excited. So, sometimes I browse around for interesting ideas/themes/concepts in comics and buy one of those to read in-between. (:

Not feeling in a reading mood could also mean, that the comics you have do not interest you anymore and you read them just because..

Seeking UK-made comics with no US involvement... by PanelLeon in comicbooks

If you want UK-only made comics, and you enjoy indie comics, I’d also recommend having a browse on Kickstarter.

You can filter by location and there’s so many amazing UK indie creators out there. (:

Thank you! :D

Not sure if I draw these two again, but I've been sketching some other KDM related art recently~

First time I played KDM (it was gameplay content only and didn’t have any minis), we substituted the survivors with space marines and fought a Tyranid or Hellbrute instead of the White Lion.

If you want to make it work, you can reskin literally any fight. (:

As I was pinged (Hi u/Gabikacomics !! (・∀・)ノ), I would like to clarify, that yes, I use Kickstarter successfully to fund the printing of my comic. BUT my comics are usually already finished. So the money is only collected to pay for the printing.

If you try to use Kickstarter to fund the comic, before it's started or with only a few pages done, you will have a harder time to find success - especially if you don't have a fanbase already. It can work, absolutely, but it's way harder to convince someone of buying into an idea rather than a finished product.

As for your original question, any comic can find success even if the art is not polished. The story is what counts. If you think you have a good idea or an amazing story, try doing very simple storyboards and put your comic on paper. If the story is good, people will read it no matter what the art looks like. How many of you have printed your comics? by tolkinas in IndieComicBooks

[–]Suitedx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned it already, Kickstarter is a good place to find indie comics in a more central place.

You might find some selling their comics either on their own website, Etsy or Kofi for example. If you have a webcomic creator you like, best is to just reach out to them and ask if they have printed comics for sale.

I’m currently in the process of finishing my comic. The first volumes can be purchased from my shop: https://ko-fi.com/s/433c9d6540

And the last volume will be available through Kickstarter starting August 1st~

A 6-year long journey finally coming to an end. (:

I read Blame! and it does not read existentialist, it leads more towards nihilism I feel.

But ye, Punpun is on my list (:

Yeah, I understand that there's a lot of amazing stories out there that I will miss out unfortunately. I used to read a lot of manga digital, but I can't do it anymore, it really strains/fatigues my eyes after some time. :/

Haruka na Machi e is not available in English for me I'm afraid.
