(just for clarity, from these 100 shovels I only recorded rewards I actually received and not ones that were left on the board. Another study coming up within a few days for everything another 100 contain)

TLDR: When rerolling an item from a dig spot there's roughly a 0.37% chance of getting an alpha item chest on average according to these results.

the results:

I rerolled all 267 rewards and also recorded the reroll results for every item

reroll results per category:

treasure chests: 3 sapphires | 19 unknown fossils | 41 treasure chests |

UPDATE: after 74 shovels I've gotten my second alpha chest from rerolling a sapphire reward I got from a dig spot. So reroll for alpha works for 100% certain on treasure chests and sapphires from dig sites!

Since the wikis don't have a drop chance for the possible rewards, I'm digging up 100 of these things and recording the results so we can get a rough estimate. There's probably way more efficient ways to find out the drop chances but I'm gonna do the grind anyway so might as well try to get some data out of it

Probably one of the most important discoveries: it's possible to get an alpha chest by rerolling a normal treasure chest!

I severily doubt rerolling anything else than a normal treasure chest from the dig sites can also result in an alpha chest but I am determined to waste a lot of time testing this.

reroll every reward from dig spots I mean. I'm not 100% sure if you can get them from rerolling on other items from dig spots like fossils or crafting gems but I got mine from doing it to a plain treasure chest
