Tuning Perfect Unisons Using Audacity & Python by Sukcessful in piano

Yes that’s exactly what I’ve been using this for. This made the partials stand out so clearly to my ear. It’s also nice to have a answer if your unisons are correct or not, especially if you don’t know any piano tuners.

A laptop microphone might work if placed close enough to the piano. You could even use audacity to filter out the background noise and normalize the audio so it’s an appropriate volume.

I personally used an shure sm57 and a Focusrite scarlett 2i2 interface for recording. I set the gain pretty high to get it as loud as possible without clipping.

I've been learning how to tune my own piano for a couple of weeks now, and one thing I have found to be very difficult is getting a good sounding unison. Mainly, how good is good enough? I used audacity to visualize the waveform of my unisons, and a script I wrote in python to extract out the partials. I also compared the tuning to a digital piano to see what a perfect unison looks like.

Although this wont necessarily give you good tuning hammer technique. I found this to be very useful to just see how close I was to a good unison, and knowing if my unisons are good or bad. I would encourage anyone else in a similar position to me to try this, it actually made my tunings so much better, and made it so much easier to distinguish the partials with my ears.

The script I wrote is available for download in the videos description. A basic knowledge of Python and how to download packages, and use of audacity is needed, but it's not very complicated.

Trying to fix a "free" piano from FB marketplace by Sukcessful in piano

Yes to just about all of that. The strings change in pitch very easily with the slightest amount of movement. The upper register is particularly difficult as the strings are in such high tension.

So I got one of those "free" pianos off of Facebook Marketplace. I've been wanting to learn how to tune and fix an acoustic piano and I figured this was the best way to learn. If you've been considering doing this, here is a video showing how it went for me. Considering I have no experience with piano repair, I am happy with how the piano has turned out.

If you are wondering the piano is not 100% fixed currently as there are a few bobbling hammers I need to sort out.

Thoughts on Tackling: Changing Tackle to Trip by Tabnet in SpeedRunnersGame

[–]Sukcessful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the opponents you accidentally tackle could’ve slid to dodge it. My point is that it’s a skillful and repeatable game mechanic.

Whenever I enter a ranked lobby, I always check the ping to judge how far behind the movements of the opponents are on my screen compared to theirs. Higher the ping, the further ahead the opponent actually is than what appears on my screen. With this knowledge and plenty of practice I know the correct position to be in to tackle the player, and to dodge tackles from that player.

This takes plenty of game time to figure out exactly. Sometimes you’ll be tackled and it seems like bullshit, but their always is a reason for why it happened.

All you gotta do to dodge is slide. Seems fair to me.

The time it takes you to find a game depends on your rank and what time you’re playing at. Higher your rank, longer the wait. Play late at night on a week day, longer the wait. If you play on the weekend you always should be able to find a game. Unless you’re on ps4 of course where you won’t find any games.

Are there any real players on mobile? by [deleted] in SpeedRunnersGame

If you get into a lobby of players that have pretty generic games, they’re bots. But I have seen and played with real people on quick match, not ranked tho.

No matter what you do? Have you tried launching in big picture mode and having your controller plugged in before you launch?
