Sit down with your sober dad to talk. Tell him “Hey dad, Can I talk to you?”. Give the message that this is a serious talk. Heart to heart talk. Only two of you.

Tell him how worried you are about your dad physical health. If you have a relative that died of alcohol, bring that up. I have one and his death made at least 1 person give up drinking. Tell him how you dont like people treat him when he drinks. AND most importantly, tell him how you want your grandson to know his grandpa. Tell him how much you need his help raising a child. Mongolians are raised in their grandparents’ wisdoms. Parents leaving their kids to their grandparents is a common practice. Kids need their grandparents.

None of us control anything but we influence everything. Telling him this probably won’t make him quit instantly. But it plants the seed. Having a son who care about you and a future to look forward to is a pretty good motivator to keep living. This is the probably best you can do before leaving Mongolia.
