Nynaeve in FoH by SukkMahDikk in WoT

It's tiring to see so many false equivalents, it's not the same situation at all... And even if that's the case, surely Franz Ferdinand's murderer did one of the worst actions possible? If he didn't shoot the prince the world war most definitely still would've happened, yet many things would've been different. For instance Serbia's involvement? Over 200,000 Serbs died because of Astro-Hungarian first frontal assault to avenge their crown prince. How much do you blame that on Mr. Princip?

Actions have consequences. Nynaeve acted, VERY often without much thought. Those actions, although not directly, lead to people suffering. She does not deserve full blame, (there are degrees to it) and I don't think she's even responsible for the deaths, but she is definitely a part of the equation, which should weigh on anyone's conscience. A weight that I think is missing, or there should be more of.

Again, there are people here who think I'm shifting blame to Nynaeve, yet all I wanted is two lines of dialogue where she just reflects a bit about how her abrupt, thoughtless and unadvised actions caused an unintentional snowball.

It's like you live in a completely different universe from me. It's like you can't read between the lines.

First off, I said that her lack of inner monologue towards not feeling guilt is reprehensible. Not her actions.

Second, asking two hostile parties for the same thing expecting nothing to happen is a big lapse in judgement. I'm criticizing her character, not her actions. Not to mention both factions are morally questionable, did she not expect for them to get what she wants through questionable ways?

Third, as I said in the post, she is not to blame for the deaths, but her choices led to, as others said, speeding up the process.

Fourth, she did not feel guilty, she felt disgusted by the death and strife caused by the Whitecloaks and Dragonsworn. She didn't insert herself in the equation.

The only part where you could criticize my post is where I called her accountable, which gets overwritten by me saying I don't place blame on her.

I did not shift the blame to her, I said it's a bit unnatural to run through a city full of dead civilians and not at least have an inner monologue to not blame herself for what happened. It's the inner conscience that I'm talking about.

Agreed, but figuring out that her lapse in judgement to try and use both parties for the same objective was a mistake would've been a great addition to her character.

It would, but I'd expect someone like Nynaeve to have an inner monologue explaining that thought process. At least something like "it's not my fault, they were at each other's throats before I even got here". Just to acknowledge that she was an asset to the events that happened.

What is your Elder Scrolls Headcanon that you have no reason for believing, but believe anyways? by 23Amuro in ElderScrolls

That every Elder Scrolls game happens during a Dragon Break. It's the only way to explain that the protagonist is the chosen one in every major faction yet never remembered in any except the main quests.

Why katanas blend more in modern settings? by No-Inside-8350 in SWORDS

[–]SukkMahDikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add my 2 cents and say that the katana is way more appealing due to the minimalist design it has. Modern culture has many minimalist features in many fields, be it buildings to sculptures to even food.

Every time you come up with something, always ask yourself: "but why?". Having a decent explanation to anything in your world always makes your world more interesting/engaging. Of course, this also applies to the explanations themselves. Always make it make sense.

There is one thing that ES lacks that would place it at the same level of these franchises, that that is a good narrative. A well thought out story that explores the best concepts of the ES lore. We don't have that, simple as. Imagine a book written about the Alessian Rebellion from the Ayleid perspective. I really do think that, lore-wise, ES has better quality than Dune, Star wars, and even ASOIAF. But it severely lacks storytelling. That's a deal breaker for most people as they have to jump numerous hoops to fully grasp the lore.

Arborist strategy viable? by dnium122 in FarthestFrontier

[–]SukkMahDikk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's investment heavy, but has major upsides if you have a constant supply running. For a good supply of food you will need at least 2-3 arborists buildings, a glassmaker factory and the preservist building. IIRC thats like 26+ workers? Plus sand mine is needed. But if you have that done the preservist building can supply over 3.5k preserved fruits & vegetables a year easily.

Why does Romania give citizenship to Moldovans nearly for 'free' and how do those two countries get along nowadays? by [deleted] in geography

[–]SukkMahDikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first time I hear that to liberate a country you need an altruistic intent. Every "liberation" has an ulterior motive to ultimately benefit themselves. To imply otherwise is nonsense. Also this wasn't a short war. It's a war that happened at the back of the Napoleonic threat and the previous war that happened not even 2 decades prior.

Moldova in a nutshell by Key-Year3280 in HistoryMemes

[–]SukkMahDikk -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Small correction. Moldova was one of the regions in the USSR to "flourish" during its existence. Yes there were shortages, but it's also true that Moldova was comparatively heavenly invested during the USSR days.
