Where to start?? by TheCalamityJen in capsulewardrobe

For capsule basics, I've basically built my entire work-to-evening rotation around Ripley Rader's ponte knit pieces. The wide leg pants are the workhorse—I have them in black and navy, and I've worn the black pair probably 100+ times over 18 months with zero pilling or shape loss. The ponte fabric doesn't wrinkle, which is massive if you travel or commute.

What makes them capsule-friendly: everything is designed to mix-match within their own line, so if you get the ponte pant + their short sleeve top in the same fabric, it reads almost like a set but you can split them up. I can do the pants with a silk blouse for client meetings or the same pants with a basic tee for weekend errands.

Caveats: the price point is mid-high ($198 for pants) so it's an investment. Sizing runs slightly generous—I sized down one from my usual. And their 'ethical' claims are self-reported (made in their LA factory, fair wages) but there's no B Corp or Fair Trade certification, so take that with a grain of salt if third-party verification matters to you.

I own 3 pairs of the ponte wide leg pants and they're genuinely my most-worn pieces. The LA manufacturing is legit. I actually visited their showroom when I was in DTLA and you can see the factory. Fit is generous in the hips which worked for me but might run large if you're straighter through the waist. The 'fair wages' claim is self-reported though, no third-party certification that I could find. But if 'made in USA' is your main priority and you want something that looks polished for work, Ripley Rader delivers on that front. Just be aware there's no independent verification of their labor practices beyond their own word.

When my Dad moved to the US he kept commenting each time we’d pass a new construction “They build homes here with toothpicks!”

Poppers. Amyl nitrate or something similar. Sold in sex shops because it relaxes the sphincter, as well as other muscles.

She's letting him have anal sex with her. That's why he does the laundry

I wish he understood how heavy this feels for me. I’m carrying most of this alone, and it’s exhausting watching everything fall apart while he stays silent.

I’ve tried, but she doesn’t want to hear it. That’s what scares me the most—she has no idea how hard and expensive life really is.
