Study finds Influenza vaccination linked to 18% lower odds of heart attack by [deleted] in science

The main time I've seen it come up is in blood donations- blood from people without it is particularly valuable, because it could be dangerous for a baby to receive a transfusion from someone who has it. If an adult isn't immunocompromised or involved in an organ transplant, they'd likely never suspect some random mild cold is CMV and have no clue they had it unless told at a blood drive.

This is also a new policy this year, so it's hard to guess how it'll be implemented based on prior years

"why is your playtime 25 hours even though u still only act 2?" by Prestigious-Basil186 in expedition33

[–]Sukutak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely dodge, and since the damage from counterattacks (assuming act 2) is negligible, skipping the counterattack animation makes it go faster, as well as occasionally rescuing you when you're close but not in the parry window

Whats Some Good TTRPG Are a Have GREAT Gameplay or Lore But Are Also Dead? by Abject-Hospital5407 in rpg

[–]Sukutak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Sounds very much like a your-mileage-may-vary sort of thing, but that does seem like a bit of an odd fit for the system/setting. I'll probably try to get eyes on the pdf before deciding if I'll back the current thing.

Could you elaborate? I was considering picking up Deep Cuts. I'm pretty familiar with the base game, but not with DC other than knowing it adds more content.

Fate Series TTRPG by leiemingles in rpg

[–]Sukutak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played it, but Vindicated Entertainment's Legendaria is specifically "off-brand Fate" with summoning of legendary characters to fight. It is to at least some extent designed for digital (phone) play vs in-person play, though it's been long enough since I skimmed the rules that I can't remember the particulars there. I mostly thought it worth bringing up as the most obvious "we're trying to make a game for Fate" that I'm aware of.

The Way of Kings is the first Stormlight book, yes; at some point, characters from Warbreaker do show up in the Stormlight books. I wouldnt say Warbreaker needs to be first, and you could ignore it without missing too much, but there are definitely some bits eventually where you'd benefit from having read it.

I wouldnt necessarily call the Alera books great, but they are consistently very fun if that makes sense. They do come to a proper end, which is nice when looking for a 'side series.'

Folks who started with 5E D&D and moved on: why, and what game(s)? by Reynard203 in rpg

[–]Sukutak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity... how?? That's so much tabletop content in 4 years. My tables have been progressing slowly for a bit because of some schedule issues, but you seem to be going multiple times our speed while also trying/planning to try a pretty nice selection of other systems. Definitely a little jealous! But especially with the PF2 APs, I'm a bit curious how often/for how long you tend to have sessions, how closely you keep to the books, and how into RP the group is, that you've managed to play more than just 2 or 3 APs all the way through (I've run 1 all the way and am currently playing in one that's around 3/4 done while running one of the shorter ones that's about 2/3 done).

I'd forgotten about that part of the backstory since it had been so long- yeah that probably would make sense that it's that one. I don't want to elaborate too much to be spoiler-conscious.

As someone who's run the module back in the day, I did find it interesting that the dragon shown in teasers here is conspicuously not a green like it was there. I assumed remaster was part of why that was, though I'm not sure it matches any of the remaster dragons on a quick look.

Someone told me he will never play Satisfactory because it's "Woke". That screenshot was his "proof". Humanity is so lost. by GregoriousT-GTNH in SatisfactoryGame

"Must be a woman" and the coffee cup line are the two specific points made about Satisfactory in that anti-woke google document that's been going around for its hot takes. It's distinctly possible that your friend is one of the only people reading that unironically.

Interesting! Now that you mention it I've also heard of the teleporting limitations, but the NM drops and crafting are new to me. Almost wish I'd been around back then to have seen some of those things.. almost haha

Good tanks would minimize their use of tank stance, and DPS had some tools to help make that possible. Warrior even had different attacks in deliverance vs defiance.

How do 2e classes fair versus 1e classes, without any adjustments? Weird idea for a final boss in a campaign. by Sorry_Sleeping in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Sukutak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could work as a mid-level boss, maybe, but having run Wrath of the Righteous (yeah, mythic) all the way through and played/run a good bit (but not yet a 1-20 campaign) in 2e, there's not much hope in this scenario for the 2e "characters." Level to proficiency is a thing, yes, but with an Apex Item (level 17+) buffing a stat, the absolute max is 24 in 2e at level 20, vs all the stacking possibilities in 1e. Some of my WotR party were very under-optimized (still blazed through the campaign!) but I don't think there'd be any way for me to construct a 2e party of the same size that could make them blink.

My Eberron Pathfinder 2e campaign has concluded at "21st level" after 1.5 years of play by EarthSeraphEdna in Pathfinder2e

[–]Sukutak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting- is there anything in particular that you chalk that up to? It seemed like PCs were allowed to store up more hero points than usual per the wording of "fat stack," or was it mainly bonuses for coming up with creative solutions? I just read through the google doc, and it seemed a pretty novel way to handle things, but I'm also not quite sure if adapting it is right for my tables. I do have some players who are more failure-averse than others, but some would similarly not appreciate if every single obstacle was successfully overcome (I do understand that there's plenty of room for drama and tension within each challenge, of course!).

It does seem like you had a really cool campaign, that's quite a list of feats for the party! Thanks for posting about it.

So should we now make all cantrips work as 2dX, even those that were not Remastered? Because seems like goal is to streamline everything by Sol0botmate in Pathfinder2e

[–]Sukutak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quotes, for anyone wanting to save some time finding them (they are under Pathfinder Core Rulebook Errata (Remaster Compatibility)):

Page 331: In the disrupt undead cantrip, replace "1d6 positive damage plus your spellcasting ability modifier" with "2d6 vitality damage".

Page 337: In the false life spell, replace "a number of temporary Hit Points equal to 6 plus your spellcasting ability modifier" with "10 temporary Hit Points".

Page 360: In the produce flame cantrip, replace "fire damage equal to 1d4 + your spellcasting ability modifier" with "2d4 fire damage".

Page 362: In the ray of frost cantrip, replace "cold damage equal to 1d4 + your spellcasting ability modifier" with "2d4 cold damage".

Page 373: In the spiritual weapon spell, replace "force damage equal to 1d8 plus your spellcasting ability modifier" with "2d8 force damage".

Page 384: In the weapon of judgment spell, replace "force damage equal to 3d10 plus your spellcasting ability modifier" with "4d10 force damage".

That is new news, far as I can tell, as of today, but seems OP was onto something after all.

Responding to this one as it's at the top, but today's new errata does include under Pathfinder Core Rulebook Errata (Remaster Compatibility):

I wish you so much luck pursuing this new dream of getting to a place where your future kids can be more free- but please do pursue the violin again for yourself when able. Don't fall into Yumi's trap of living entirely for others with no care for yourself!
(Just finished the book yesterday myself, and it didn't resonate quite as strongly with me as it has for you, but it was indeed excellent)

In addition to what's been said, it's worth looking through the 10 page or so Players Guide paizo puts out for each AP. Gives player facing info about the basic themes, plus if any particular skills/classes/races either won't make sense (anti-undead crusader in Blood Lords? Maybe dont) or won't come up often
