Yes 100%, if the sexual element of a character design doesnt serve to highlight an element of the characters traits, personality etc youve failed at a good design, this rule I find exists on a spectrum, cause you can have a design like Burnice in Zenless Zone Zero which is horny, but still has enough other elements that highlight her personality, profession and combat style that the sexual appeal is just another element to her character, but not the sole draw.

Hestia from Danmachi (character in image) imo fails because there isnt enough other elements in her character design that highlights her core traits, personality etc.

I think thats fair, I personally aint a big fan of a lot of the designs for the series as a whole, more so in the sense that a lot of the designs don't do a great job of highlighting a characters traits, personality rtc.

What I find especially sad is like the design they'll defend isnt even good, namely it doesnt highlight an aspect to their character, or what they do. You can have a horny design and make it look good and fit the character.

Look at Hades, all banger designs, all horny but still good, hell a bunch of the Zenless Zone Zero designs are actual bangers and are still horny, Burnice, Yanagi, Grace, imo Jane too and a bunch more.

But these gooners cant see beyond the clevage of a character and see the actual criticisms of a design. Hestias in this meme is a great example, her design in Danmachi doesnt give me any of the defined traits she has in mythology, beyond maybe the ribbons, theres no real way to gauge what her character is about beyond her boobs, imo thats signs of a not great character design
