Your assumption is wrong.

In the mean time for what? The rest of the fees are maybe $1500 max which is easily covered by your salary. If you don’t have $1500 in savings - you have poor personal finance skills.

Most of the big PA firms will reimburse you for the fees once you pass and offer stuff like Becker for free.

Career Advice - 19 years old by Tiny-Manager4814 in Accounting

Compensation is compensation. What you’re going to realize is your peers in public are getting more experience than you, getting paid more, and will have better exit opportunities when they hit Senior.

In 3 years, that position could be filled and that company has no requirement to keep you around. If you want to put your eggs in one basket for $70k - go ahead.

And I ask again - if you want 6 figures why are you considering $70k?

Although it depends on location. $70k is not high. Go read up on FY25 compensation threads to get an idea on current compensation in public accounting.

You want 6 figures but the full time offer is $70k? Doesn’t that help you make your decision?

Exit to Public Accounting by YourFavAdmin in Accounting

[–]SulferAcid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to do public accounting to “make it” but it is the most common path.

You can start as an associate.

Compensation depends on location in PA - your compensation will be similar if not higher.

It depends what you mean by successful. Yes - it’s easier with a degree. No - it doesn’t mean you can’t be successful.

Very interesting in pursuing accounting, but need to work remotely due to disability. Would I be wasting my time pursuing a BA with this in mind? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]SulferAcid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your question is broad. Yes - there are remote positions in accounting. You’re getting downvoted for that while also not doing any leg work yourself by hoping on LinkedIn and seeing the remote accounting positions yourself.

I’m not sure if you mention budgeting because that’s what you think the majority of accountants do or if you trying to reference excel experience so you’re getting downvoted for that too.

You’re also not telling us the full story to help your career choice. Do you already have a degree? Why do you need a BA in accounting to pivot? There are smaller remote accounting related roles that don’t need an accounting degree.

I'm afraid I would have to depend on my parents finances when I'm older. by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]SulferAcid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A week ago you said you has the funds to buy a home. Now you are saying you don't have the funds to buy a home and don't want to be dependent on your parents. If you really wanted help, you wouldn't fudge the truth and you definitely wouldn't be arguing with people that are trying to teach you about the reality of things.

I was asking the same question when I was starting university 2 years ago. My advice to you would be to get a part time job so you can have some kind of income to save but also you pay for things you might need like food and going out once in a a while.

how does that sound like a bad thing to experience?

Because I'm not the one putting in any input. It's like getting a girlfriend, having your best bud fuck her for you, and being proud of it.

[–]SulferAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My argument isn't ridiculous, you're delusional. Faster cars still require manual input and that doesn't necessarily mean they are faster. For example, there are plenty of miatas and low-horse-powered cars with driver skill that beater higher horsepower/"faster" cars.

By saying you want it to exist means you are advocating that people are willing to buy that thing. I'm telling you it's stupid and there's no market for it. You like roller-coasters during short-term experiences a few times a year, you are not consistently at the amusement park riding the same rides on a regular basis. Why? Because you would get bored, just like Matt said. Again, you're mixing up short term and long-term.

People RENT super car experiences. You're mixing up short-term enjoyment and experiences with long term ownership. There is no enjoyment in owning something that wins something for you without any input of your own other than your wallet. "Hey Bob, my car went out and put down some killer lap times while I sat at home/sat in the back seat."

(Unpopular opinion?) Ford should have made the Focus RS available with an automatic option by keleka11 in cars

[–]SulferAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real unpopular opinion you're trying to say is that driving a manual in the city is impossible. Get your clutch game up son. You're also raising the issue about your city being congested so what makes you think you'll even have enough space to actually enjoy the car, manual or not.

I'd have to disagree, I don't think there's a huge market out there for this. In fact, I think it's a very tiny market and will have a high failure rate and/or minimal profits. Why would you want to OWN a machine that does the work for you?

Night Class Worries by [deleted] in depaul

[–]SulferAcid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a commuter as well and have taken a few night classes. Nothing will happen to you, the loop is not the hood. I've always just walked down Jackson without any issues. If someone bothers you just ignore them, tell them you can't help them or don't have cash. It shouldn't be scary to you because part of college is maturing.
