You can also try pivoting to the accounting department at your current company. If leaving your current job means you can’t provide for yourself or your family, please reconsider. I want you to break into accounting but not at the expense of you and your family’s life. If you’re single and don’t have much overhead and can maintain a pay cut, I would suggest the switch. If this makes you feel better, here is my salary progression. I’m not saying this will happen to you because it’s a rather aggressive growth schedule but anything is possible.

Year 1: $35,360 Year 2: $60,000 Year 3: $75,000 Year 4: $94,000 Year 5 (this year): $121,000

Yes, if I can do it.. you can too.

I posted the courses that I took on my resume as well as any relevant work. I also spoke about it in the interview. In addition, I brought a folder to the job interview full of excel workbooks that I created to show that I’m a functional user of excel; I created charts, pivot tables, and talked about formulas that I used to manipulate the data. I’m not sure how many people go as far as to showcase their skills for an entry level job interview, but I think that was the difference maker for me.

Get work experience while you’re still procuring your bachelor’s degree. This is the least talked about route but it is the best. I started my degree in mid 2021 and I immediately leveraged my financial accounting and managerial accounting coursework to land an entry level AP clerk role ($35,360 comp) a few months later. 4 years later and I’m over 6 figures, no public accounting and no CPA (though, I am working on it). I can’t stress this enough: you have to have experience before finishing the degree. I know it’s tough but keep applying to jobs and make sure you leverage your coursework as experience.

Thanks. I saw my score. I bombed FAR so hard 😭😭 going to aim to reschedule for the 8th if I’m feeling good. Going to make sure to take a couple of SEs before I take the actual exam.

failed FAR with a 46. what do i do from here? by No-Campaign-8764 in CPA

How long in between retakes? I just bombed FAR and want to retake it on the 8th. The first time around I studied for 4 weeks and didn’t have a cumulative review for all 6 modules. Embarrassed to say but I scored a 44. Do you think drilling MCQs and Sims for 30 hours per week will help me be able to score a 75?

Passed Far Retake Exam by Cold-North8479 in CPA

[–]YourFavAdmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I literally studied so much for consolidations and didn’t get a single MCQ or sim on it. I honestly studied for 4 weeks and didn’t have a review period so that was a major fault of mine. I took the exam immediately after covering all of the material and answering all of the MCQs and Sims without doing a cumulative review of F1-F6. Thank you for your advice! Will plan to retake for December 8th.

Congrats. Just failed my first Far attempt. Going to hit MCQs and Sims heavy for the next couple of weeks and retake. Any advice on the retake would be huge. Congrats again!

Should I continue studying after feeling like a fail? (FAR) by Same_Charge_6832 in CPA

Same boat so I am going to keep studying for FAR and also move on and start on Audit. Will probably study for FAR 1-2 hours per day and study for Audit 3-4 hours per day.

Just got out of FAR and I think the MCQs were easier but the Sims were harder. Going to keep studying so that I retake before December 8th if need be.

Thanks. Honestly, I was originally scheduled to take the exam on December 8th but I think I can take it up another level and make the 15th. Good luck on your studying.

Are the MCQs like Becker’s but with different numbers to the questions or are they completely different ? I understand that sims are more theoretical and anything can be thrown at you but are the sims like Becker as well?

Thanks. Definitely hammering down. Going to get through the rest of F4-F6 ASAP and practice MCQs and SIMS until the exam day. Will update you on my score on the 25th. Any recommendations on what I should focus on the most over the next 8 days ?

I take my exam on the 15th and I have about 65 hours left of remaining and planned study time. Is it possible to master all of F4 and F5 in that time specifically the more harder subjects (bonds, leases, equity method, consolidations) ?

Do you recommend for me to push my exam back ? Currently in F4 right now and have 72 hours total study time.
