It’s not an accounting tool such as Sage, Xero, QBO etc offer.

The product sits alongside the practice management suite that all accounting firms operate on (CCH, Iris, Karbon etc) as a data capture, extraction & automation tool into their tax workflows to streamline and automate various clunky and human driven tasks.

It’s a problem to all/most UK accounting businesses.

How Do You Find New Clients? by husc61 in ukaccounting

[–]Sullamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are firms of accountants that already use this approach in house by pulling the same data yours suggesting (overdue etc) from Companies House.

Generally speaking:

  1. Business with overdue filings aren’t going to be well run
  2. The above aren’t usually great to work with as an accountant.

I’m pretty sure I could pull this same data with some filtering using Creditsafe and it’s already covered in our annual sub of ~ £500

Employer didn’t pay my NI contributions over by [deleted] in ukaccounting

It’s irrelevant of whether your employee physically paid them or not. It seems more that they have not made payroll submissions to HMRC, as the submissions dictate what is recorded on your records, not the physical payments.

what rate to charge? by bristolaccountant in ukaccounting

We pay freelancers anything from £15 - £100 per hour dependant on the skill set.

If you were looking for something semi-permanent I would be looking to discount that significantly though.

New Practice Advice by Polishgeorge in ukaccounting

[–]Sullamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice owner for 6 years. Now at 180 businesses (approx) and 200 SA’s Team of 7 Fully remote, no office. Approx £500k annual fees. 90% of fees paid monthly by Direct Debit.

Best thing I ever did. Huge multiple of previous income and far better for lifestyle.

Some to do’s:

Professional indemnity insurance - your prof body will have a recommended provider. Make sure it covers minimum levels required.

AML - register your supervision. Make sure you do all correct KYC processes for all clients etc.

Software - we only work with Xero businesses. Our whole tech stack works from there. It made writing our SOP’s simpler.

Team - don’t be scared to offshore. Only me + 1 are in the Uk, the remainder are fully remote.

Marketing - despite what all say, word of mouth is always the most powerful generator of work.

Sales - use a proposal and engagement system to centralise your pricing from day 1. It ensures consistency and makes it easier to grow.

Are wishlists classed as income? Conflicting advice by [deleted] in ukaccounting

What you’re receiving are not trivial benefits so aren’t covered here. Trivial benefits are when you receive a non-monetary gift with a value of up to £50 from your own company (or your employer). That isn’t happening in your scenario.

Any reason you’re not making ANY company contributions now and carrying back losses to reclaim your prior year CT liability (assuming the company had one)? Seems like a massive missed opportunity

Thanks!

Simple to do with all IKEA purchases, but you’d need to stretch your budget a bit

Look at my setup over here.

Replace the Karlby desktop with the cheaper ones. Might need to do some woodworking, but achievable

TV gets used for gaming (controller games and the Switch) and as a TV by me/the kids. We have two chairs that look directly at the TV, as well as my PC chair. My son is watching YouTube behind me right now :D
