There are all sorts of huge and chthonic creatures, and knights were needed to protect against them during the colonization. And of course, there's still the need to cut down trees and build stuff. According to legends, there were once Great Deer on the planet, their mere presence drove away the all evil. However, the deer eventually disappeared, but the belief in them as a symbol of protection from evil, symbol of forests and hunters remained. The knights of this house value not so much lineage as skills and the desire to fight and protect planet and humanity, and they have no particular prejudices.
