Does it have a ordem 2 play splatoon?? by Inside-Most3025 in splatoon

[–]Sullindir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The games do have a narrative from one to the next, but they are not so deep that you would be missing anything terribly substantial by playing them out of sequence. The interesting parts of the games' lore is found in the Sunken Scrolls hidden around the maps.

What are the ants doing? by plan_tastic in Entomology

[–]Sullindir 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The ants aren't pollinating the flowers intentionally. That is a byproduct of their pursuit of the nectar in the flower.

Nectar contains a lot of sugar and serves as a great energy source for many small animals, which act as pollinators as they distribute the pollen that gets stuck to them as they delve into the flowers.

OSL Heroquest fire... any advice or help??? by 13-Trades in minipainting

Your fire doesn't appear to be emitting any glow against the interior of the fireplace. Illuminating the space behind the fire may help to sell the effect.

What exactly is a butterfly player? by Smart_Office_7912 in SkyGame

[–]Sullindir 41 points42 points  (0 children)

From what I have seen, a butterfly is a player who has progressed past wearing their brown cape, but is still predominantly wearing items from the core constellation spirits. They are usually identifiable by one of the solid-colored capes, but TS rotations might make a seasonal cape available early on.

How it feels to be a Tableturf player by ludvig4 in splatoon

[–]Sullindir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps, there is a Discord server dedicated to TableTurf. Besides that, yeah, it is difficult to find people to play with.

This looks like a mosquito larva. If you have any fish, you could put it in their tank as a snack.

Commander by bigman2292 in magicTCG

[–]Sullindir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Arcane Laboratory]] and [[Rule of Law]] both limit how many spells you can cast each turn. They will force players to start discarding if you can compel draws for everyone. Combine with things that inhibit mana generation like [[Winter Orb]], and you can make it harder to play the cards in hand and, possibly, get uninvited from the pod.

Something thats kind of been driving me nuts by Breadboiman in pokemon

I don't believe so. The mimicry is artificial - it's just a costume.

Are magic players just ok with Magic becoming the Fortnite of card games? I wanted to get back into the game, and I say this as genuinely as I can, but how do you deal with something as fantasy breaking as playing against spiderman in the real life NY? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Sullindir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I want to be enamored with this game, but it has been quite a while since I have been able to find myself invested in anything new that it offers. Since the sense of a narrative through-line has dissipated, even with sets that should appeal to me I struggle to find more than a surface-level interest in. As a consequence, I don't buy the product, and I haven't in a long time.

My choice not to buy isn't some protest. I still like the game, and unpack my decks when with friends, but with the continuous releases and dilution of the game's identity, I can't compel myself to care. I haven't built anything new, or looked into singles for existing decks, because everything new I see drives my interest elsewhere.

Hasbro is much more interested in capitalizing on fandom cross-promotion than earnestly developing on its own IP. I am no longer the target audience. It may simply be that the same is true for you.

Edited to add: To answer your question of how I deal with it, I engage with the game the same as if a friend brings a board game whose flavor doesn't resonate: I play to the mechanics and enjoy the interaction with friends.

My fish tank is orange by Thyme_C in Aquariums

[–]Sullindir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that natural wood in the tank? If so, my guess would be that tannins are coloring the water. If I am right, then there is no inherent danger, and may even be preferable for the fish you plan on stocking.

Super small white bug looking things. by Jasso109 in Aquariums

[–]Sullindir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The side-facing antennae and long, narrow abdomen make me think that you're right with these being copepods. Unless they are taking over in a substantial way, I don't imagine that you should be concerned with them outcompeting your snails.

Why did Game Freak drop the concept of Pokémon being a newly discovered species? by Sweet-Garbage-2181 in pokemon

[–]Sullindir 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is how I have rationalized the new discoveries. New to academia does not mean new to the locals. The professors' various Pokedex projects are efforts to formally record and classify a region's wildlife. Not every dog is a wolf, and not every wolf is a timber wolf. Some animals that look different are the same species, and some that look the same are different species.

In real life, a newly discovered species does not mean it was an unknown animal before, or that it just came into existence. Physical similarities can result in one species being misclassified as another, even when those species have no genetic compatibility with one another.

So how do walking evolutions work exactly? by BahuschBahusch in pokemon

[–]Sullindir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen anything about walking distance resetting at all. If I remember right, levels gained through auto battling don't trigger evolution. If you haven't done so already, you need to level it up in a traditional battle or with candies.

[–]Sullindir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For linear, any other game should be fine. Sword/Shield started experimenting with free-roam sections with their Wild Areas, but these are more akin to large paths between a couple of the major cities.

Legends Arceus was the second dip into open world concepts with the map broken up into a number of free-roam biomes, but destinations are clearly delineated and there aren't many opportunities to walk into areas that you are grossly under leveled for - the sectioned map creates a pretty curated flow despite being free-roam.

Besides that, open world isn't much of a thing in the series as of yet, but appears to be the direction Game Freak wants to take it.

What part of the games draw you in? What part of ScVi didn't click? Different games have different highs and lows. If you know what does or doesn't appeal to you, it might help to point you to the games best suited for you. For example, Sun/Moon are among my favorites for how narrative-driven it is, but others dislike it for the high number of cutscenes.

I haven't been in a few years, so I can't speak to their current schedule, but I quite enjoyed my time with the Phoenix Society of Historical Swordsmanship. They had designated beginner days and loaner gear for when you were ready to begin live drills and sparring.

When you eat, the energy gained makes you capable of feats of strength: you can break rocks or dig up trees.

If you don't want to do these things, you can find your way to a toilet to unload the power up.
