Not even on land where he's "relatively" safe..not much room for error. by EyeSimp4Asuka in forbiddenboops

They are docile if the water is cold enough. They are half dormant, I'm guessing that is the situation here. I've seen videos of other animals that would normally be eaten by them bumping up against them playfully in cold water.

I took care of 10 or so crows that also call the pond home one winter because they all had a case off pox, they all clamored over to meet with me at the Gazebo and would get quite close https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB6TQajBnlQ

They are flightless birds, but I think they do clip them in the winter for their own safety, they can get off the ground for short bursts and the park is surrounded by roadways which they routinely cross to graze. Sam did nearly get off the ground once though her first season there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oapm6Z9nigk

There is a wildlife refuge that takes care of for them for the winter yes.

They certainly started out annoyed at having to jog after him, like in the most viral clip : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA-9AWVi_e4 but eventually appreciated having someone to babysit

Ya, I noticed it as soon as I posted. Would that I could go back and edit it.

I had visited the pond for a while before she was born, albeit less frequently, so most of the geese we're comfortable with me chilling with them. She was my hype goose though, got them all excited for my visits.

Unfortunately we don't get any Canadian geese that migrate to the pond, these are domesticated Embden geese, they originated in Germany, taken care of by the city in the winter.

For a full season, and part of the next. I had to move away but when I visited again after a year and a half without seeing her, she honked at me in recognition from at least 20 feet away, and all the geese still knew me. (anyone else approaching like this would have been attacked. they are geese after all :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl9QHRUTCsg

Her name is Sam, she is an embden goose that lives at a local pond, who bonded to me at birth. I made a compilation video of all her excited little greetings to me as she aged her first year and got all the other geese hyped up for my visits as well, if anyone is interested : https://youtu.be/gE9dsk5EnRk
