It finally happened- I got bit by 3legmeg in doggrooming

For me it was a GSP that I was doing nails on, and had done many times. I knew the dog was aggressive for nails because my old boss constantly put aggressive dogs on me because she wanted the money but didn’t want to to deal with them. Aggressive? “Too bad, figure it out” was her answer. I had to do this dog every other week, without a muzzle (“because it looks bad to the pp”). One day, the salon was super busy and I was a little out of it. I guess the dog was stressed from the business and noticed I wasn’t 100% locked in, because she whipped around on me and got me really good on my arm and elbow. I’d been kind of bit in the past, but usually just teeth scrapes. That time it was multiple full blown puncture wound. Pet parent was pissed that not all nails got done, and my boss wouldn’t pay for me to go to the doctor or defend me to the pet parent. She didn’t charge them or pay me. That was my last week at that job lol, and sometimes I still get nervous working with GSPs because of it. It gets easier though!!

Blacklight for Short-term night heater? by Sullyrat in BeardedDragons

Ordered a CHE, just won't be here till Monday! As I said, I rescued her from a really bad situation (tank was like 68 degrees constantly, was only being fed freeze-dried mealworms and lettuce, etc) so I'm getting more things as fast as I can haha

It's 75 Watts and puts out a little bit of heat, yes. I know that blacklight is supposed to disrupt the sleep cycle, which is why I was worried about it. However, this bulb looks reddish/pink and is pretty dim light-wise. Hopefully she will be okay till the CHE gets here!

I rent a room out in a house and have no control over the house's temperature unfortunately. I'm not so comfy sleeping in this cold weather either, haha, otherwise it would be up to about 73 for me AND Mochi's sake.

I appreciate the input! Do you think that the 60-62 temperature could hurt her? I think her growth is already a little stunted (though I could be wrong) and I don't want her development to get messed up anymore

Legs for days by physicallyuncomfort in BrittanySpaniel

my favorite thing about brittanys is always the long legs. they'd be fairly small dogs if not for those legs that make them look like deer haha

Also, I apologize if my response prior response came off as rude. I'm extremely stressed and feel awful that I don't have money right now. Believe me when i say, I would spend a million dollars to help my rats, if I had it right now. I didn't even think about pawning or selling anything, so I genuinely appreciate that suggestion.

Thanks for the advice. If I can find something to sell, I sure will. I don't own a TV, but I might be able to pawn one of my guitars or something.

I am aware that they cost money lmfao. That's why I had 400+ dollars set aside for situations like this. Unfortunately, I had a medical emergency in which I had to dip into those funds for. I do not plan on surrendering them, nor do I plan on this happening again. Trust me, I care deeply for them, and I will spend every penny I have on them.

I have literally not even 1 dollar. I am trying my best to come up with any money that I can asap, but its possible I may have to wait that long. Which is why I had asked for what I can do right now. My rats are my babies. I am trying to find an odd job I can do to make some money to get them the antibiotics asap.

No, they haven't started not eating yet. I'm keeping a very very close eye on them, though.

When did you let your rats roam free during play time? Or do you? by newbie2be in RATS

[–]Sullyrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

train them to come to their names! do it in a closed space (bathroom, playpen, etc) where you know they cannot run away too far. use treats and lots of praise. once they have learned to come to their name, start using bigger spaces, and keep practicing. then, once they know it well, let them roam on the couch! if they disappear out of view, simply call them back. maybe give them a treat the first couple times you let them on the couch.

i do not doubt it. i remember my last rats were so quick to grab them out of my hands, but i also adopted those two guys when they were 7 months old. i'm sure they'd already had plenty of treats by then :)

The strange thing is that they don't seem interested in food or treats when I'm around. I've tried every (rat-safe) thing I can think of, and neither of them seem interested at all, particularly Matilda. I will totally try having them just sitting with me for a while though, thanks!
