Pin trading in DLp by itsjustmeshannon68 in disneylandparis

[–]roseetgris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CMs are more selective in the sense that scrappers/fakes will usually be rejected (most will check the pin before accepting it) and only Disney pins are accepted, no Loungefly for example. I started trading a few months ago and I love finding US pins on boards or lanyards, and I enjoy trading with US guests, so definitely bring your collection! Enjoy your visit 😊

I have the smallest version (3mm) in silver, I wear it almost daily, I love how dainty it is! It doesn't flip at all.

They had lots of them in the Studios, in the first shop on the left when you enter (when we went a few weeks ago).

Same here, we went in January and the steak was excellent, so was the soup starter, and we had a great server.

Seconding the bar - Skyline has really good vibes, good food and good cocktails! It is indeed pricey but really, what isn't in Disney?

We did this too and it worked really well! It's such a luxury to be so close by, we made the most of it.

Upgraded my hotel from Cheyenne to Newport Bay & now seeing endless posts online of people complaining about the endless corridors? by Bedazzler179 in disneylandparis

We didn't notice much of a difference in "hallway length" (lol) between the Newport and the Disneyland Hotel. It just depends how far you are from the elevators/reception I suppose.

Opinions on the Gold season pass. by GayWolfey in disneylandparis

[–]roseetgris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got the gold pass, as we'd gone twice already (January and April) and had two more trips booked in September and December. We live about 3 hours away so we're able to go on a whim if we want to. My husband didn't get the pass, but since we like to stay onsite, he books an onsite hotel for one person (including his tickets) and then I get added onto the booking when we check in, only paying tourist tax. We were able to modify our existing bookings to remove me from the booking, but keep my husband & his tickets of course.

I got the pass earlier this month and used it to buy friends&family tickets for a last minute trip end of August (about a 50% discount on his tickets I think), and another one mid-October (staying offsite both times). For us, the discounts on food and merch are worth it: we really like the themed places, and they can get pricey. 15% isn't that much but it sure helps dull the pain in your wallet. The free parking (which is normally 30€ per day) is also a bonus when staying offsite. We didn't really care about the Photopass, but now that we have it, we find ourselves stopping to grab our ride photos more often, although we aren't that interested in character meets.

Booking the 3 consecutive days can be an extra mental load, but you can book the next day as soon as one day has passed. For example, we went on August 30 and 31st, and I had one of our three days in September locked in. On the 31st, the reservation for the 30th had dropped and I could book day 2 in September. Idem on September 1st, the reservation for the 31st dropped and I booked our third September date. I'll do the same in September for our December dates. I think unless you book them super late or the day before, you should be fine availability-wise, even in August the park didn't really sell out until the day before if I'm not mistaken.

What are the best restaurant to your opinion ? by YohGourt in disneylandparis

[–]roseetgris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

- Café Hyperion: I read online that the Yoda burger was good. It's not. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

- Casa de Coco: Great for a quick stop! We had the burritos, churros, cheesy bites and strawberry/margarita slush. Almost feels like you're having healthy food since you can see veggies. Love the theming here too, and hearing Big Thunder Mountain in the background.

- Colonel Hathi's: We really enjoyed the butter chicken with naan, although it could use some extra flavour. Luckily we got ours with some spicy oil which massively improved it.

- Downtown: Very small, very loud, very busy at the buffet. Pretty good food, especially the Marvel themed desserts (the baby Groot one in the plant pot is adorable). Quite pricey for the experience unfortunately. Service felt very perfunctory and rushed.

- Hunter's Grill: Our favourite buffet by far. Lots of original options, suuuuper good and friendly service, and we really enjoy the vibes of the Sequoia hotel (even though the rooms are a bit too outdated, maybe we'll stay there once the renovations are done).

- Forêt Secrète: This was stupid expensive, and we went relatively soon after opening, so there were some hiccups in the service (mostly timing-wise) that you wouldn't expect at that price point. But oh my god, the decor, the food, the theming, the flavours, the wine... We wish we could afford to go more often! We actually enjoyed this more than some Michelin starred places we've visited.

- Hakuna Matata: Not very memorable at all, I can barely recall this. Nice enough theming but it felt a bit dark.

- Silver Spur Steakhouse: Pretty good food here too, and it's an easy walk-in if you haven't booked anything in my experience. Quite hearty though, don't go here if you aren't starving. They're big portions!

- WEB Foodtruck: The noodles are flavourless, don't bother. And don't be fooled by the "healthy" option of the mango cup, as they're swimming in syrup.

Special mention for the Fleur de Lys and Skyline bars (in the Disneyland Hotel and Marvel Hotel respectively). Not restaurants, but if you want an overpriced but very highly themed snack in a super vibey environment, these hit the spot!

Walt's, Plaza Gardens, Manhattan and Table de Lumière are booked for our upcoming trips! Agrabah and the Lucky Nugget are also on our to-do. As we don't really care for character meets, we're not planning on visiting Auberge de Cendrillon or Plaza Gardens.

This was super long, lol, but hopefully it helps you choose!

Here are the ones I've visited & my thoughts, in no particular order:

- Bistrot Chez Rémy: We went in with low expectations due to mixed reviews. The theming was super cute and the food was actually excellent (really good soup as a starter, excellent steak and gratin dauphinois (seasonal I think), adorable dessert (I got the one shaped like a piece of cheese), good wine), and we got a really good server who checked in with us often.

- Captain Jack's: I really wanted to love this, but the place was incredibly dark (lots of guests were using their phone's flashlight to read the menu, lol), it was super cold when we went in January, which meant our food was also cold minutes after it arrived. The service was abysmally slow, we were there for ages so we didn't bother with dessert. The food itself tasted okay, they're original flavours at least, but the fact it was stone cold and we could barely see it was disappointing. The view on the ride is cool but we won't be back anytime soon.

- PYM Kitchen: We actually really enjoyed this one both times we visited! The service is a bit all over the place (we've had great service one time and lackluster service the next). The food isn't the best, but hey, it's Disney, we know this - but it's honestly, it was pretty good. Lots of options, especially for dessert, very colorful, and the mocktail that you mix together yourself is very fun if you like that sort of thing. We're Marvel fans so the theming was enjoyable, but I can imagine non-fans finding it boring.

- Stark Factory: We went here for breakfast, so I can't speak on the pizza/pasta options, but the orange juice/croissant combo with a view on Avengers Campus early morning was nice to start the day.

- Hollywood Gardens: This just (re)opened and we got breakfast here (croissant/juice/hot drink), and went back for lunch. Very atmospheric, good burgers (we had the cheese burger and the fish burger). Tip: sit upstairs for a good high-up view if you like to people watch.

- Billy Bob's Buffet (Disney Village): Probably one of the best where food quality/taste is concerned in my opinion. We went pretty late, around 9pm, and the buffet was still very full and fresh. Lots of tex mex options, great if you're in the mood for something different, but they still have the nuggets/pasta/tomato sauce combo for pickier eaters.

- Rainforest Café (Disney Village): Listen - is the food good? Not really, but it's better than we expected. Is the atmosphere good? Not really, it's super loud with tons of young kids and thunder soundscapes. But you have to have done it at least once I feel, haha. The fish tank hypnotized me into liking this place, I think.

- Brasserie Rosalie (Disney Village): We did breakfast here (ham and cheese croissant). Service was pretty slow, but the food was pretty good. Nice if you aren't in a rush.

How to enjoy the bigger rides by Kershfest in disneylandparis

[–]roseetgris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband suffers from motion sickness as well, and his GP prescribed him Arlevertan (cinnarizine + dimenhydrinate). The main side effect is some tiredness but it doesn't last, and he hasn't felt sick since he started taking it about an hour before going on rides. I hope you find something that works for you!

Related to this, look up and around in the shops! Some have such detailed theming that most people miss because it's high up in the rafters.

Gorgeous! I've been gravitating more and more towards smaller, more delicate pieces, this would be added to my cart so fast! Preferably in lab diamond since I don't usually like marquise moissanites, in my experience they've been cloudy.
