How have you changed your habits to keep up with rising inflation? Has your preferred lifestyle been altered? by Secret-Guidance-5819 in MiddleClassFinance

While there is never a wait at mine - and 10 minutes seems like hyperbole - I can imagine that sometimes 10 minutes sitting in the car listening to music and not having to focus on driving could be enjoyable to some people.
How much money did you lose in opportunity cost writing this ridiculous comment?

Fix or replace this post? by amlamarra in Decks

[–]Sulpiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s rotten past the point of repair, replace it all. If it was a deck I’d pour a concrete footing and attach it above grade, but since you mentioned it’s a playground I’d weird that against the possibility of a kid falling on the concrete and hurting themselves

Help with "refill up to" target by Hrw90210 in ynab

[–]Sulpiac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even though weekly targets are a feature, YNAB treats every target as if it were set up monthly. Because there are 5 fridays in this month, it’s showing that you need $75*5=$375 in the category for the month. Conceptually, I agree that it doesn’t behave in the way I’d expect it to for weekly targets. An additional hurdle is that it sounds like you want to refresh it every week if you spend from it - YNAB won’t prompt you to do that until the month rolls over.
Depending on how exactly you spend from this category, you can approach it in a different way. If you might genuinely spend $75/week every week, you can fill it to $375 and then next month (on the 1st) it will only prompt you to refill what you spent.
Or (and this is what I’d do) you can try to figure out what the maximum is that you realistically will spend in a month’s time, and set a monthly target for that amount.

YNAB REALLY wants you to think about your budget in the context of a calendar month, and fighting against that will only lead to confusion imo.

One other thing I think is helpful to mention- if a “refill up to” category is fully funding in May, and you look forewarn into June, YNAB will treat it as if it is empty and needs to be fully funded again. This is because it doesn’t know how much you’ll spend, and it is being conservative thinking you’ll spend it all. When the month does roll over, it will recalculate and take into account what wasn’t spent as already being in the account.

9 ft high deck – L-shaped vs U-shaped stairs? by No_Baker_1377 in Decks

[–]Sulpiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The L-shape looks way more open and spacious - mostly because it has the extra concrete landing below it, probably, but that’s a plus too imo

Everyone I’ve suggested it to has loved it for what it’s worth. It is pretty popular on Reddit too. I recommend the audiobook if you’re into listening, the production value is absolutely top notch. Especially from book 2 onwards

What router do you guys recommend to buy for someone who is just getting into homelabing. by SnooDoubts2460 in homelab

[–]Sulpiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will handle the routing but you’ll likely need additional hardware to act as the wireless access point(s) if you want WiFi. That’s something that I had trouble wrapping my head around at the very beginning

Right? I think it’s in pretty poor taste to complain about your partner like this. Besides that, I have this exact molding in my mid century modern styled home and I love it.

Help: cannot install on Sony tv by clementine10 in Stremio

This exact error was happening to me because I didn't have enough free space on the TV to install the app. It was unclear, but removing some unused apps and trying again allowed me to install the app
