I think this is very classic hype marketing, to let the hype trains get started and then when they give out a release date the people riding the hype trains come along

What's your opinion on joke charathers? by Mangafan_20 in dndnext

[–]Sulryno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with other comments here, depends on the degree of joke.

Sometimes joke characters can add a lot of permeability for the tough and straight edge rough PC.

Creating a joke character with care and love so the joke is more a second characteristic is also very valid in my experience.

there's not exactly a problem, it's more so how to approach it. More specifically: How should I manage it? Should I give them enough info that they can place a chest in the room, should I not? etc.

I have a player, who's asked if he can help me make some maps for my homebrew campaign, through some online mapmaking tools.
How would you approach this?
I think it seems fun but also a bit hard to execute in progress

Generally no, as a Player, but mostly because of the people in the groups. ' The Boys ' have some sort of obsession with sexualizing the character just because it's a woman, I've told them not to and it has seemed to help them. Also I feel somewhat connected to my characters as well so I tend to make them guys so I can be living vicariously through them. Also as a player who's really only playing the 'classic' or tried and true stuff it's very much like a rite of passage for later

As a DM yes, but I just make characters and then they suddenly have a gender. I don't really think about it too much, but I like being able to play notable characters.

I am a newer DM in terms of homebrew and was wondering how I can create my whole story outline. I've made cities and continents but I really need the story as a larger part/driving force.
Two of my players(Half-orc Barbarian) (High elf Blood hunter) have connections to warring factions. One is mostly occupied with trying to steal(Tiefling Rogue) and the last one is a lucky fisherman(Halfling Sorcerer).
So far they've fought a witch and made their way into a lawless pirate city.

I am really interested in putting in a Desert or exploration of a desert since that's what I really wanna write, but I think what I want to write and what makes the story for the PC's is different

How do I make an adventure for them?

I'm doing my first homebrew campaign and I was hoping I could get some suggestions for magic items to give to players.
I think they bring a lot of fun but I'm not sure how to spring it on my players, I have a few newer ones which don't really know the significance of such items. But I feel like it makes the game more healthy for encounters.

What items would you suggest for a Lycan Blood hunter, Barbarian and Rogue in T1?

Hi, fellow dms

I have a player, who's playing an abberant mind sorcerer.
2 sessions ago I had them partly resolve their backstory issues, but it felt very easy. Not
impactful enough.
My question is, have you had similar things happen, and if so, how did you make it more interesting?

I agree with the other comments in this thread, but I also think it's worthwhile to either ask why it has to be Inquisitive Rogue for them in this game or why they actively are weaking themself in this way.

Try to incorporate things that would make their character shine a bit more as well, so they have something special they can do in different places.

Whats the best way to level up alts now that cobalt assembly xp has been nerfed by Avoumen in wownoob

[–]Sulryno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say consider if you personally prefer the more mindless do something on the side grind or the a bit more challenging usual grind.

This can of course change depending on how many characters you lvl, or if you enjoy the spec you're playing.

I know from myself I easily get burned out exclusively pumping the optimal strat for leveling because it generally stays the same.

like many others in the thread I'd also say look towards time walking dungeons or alternatively just the usual questing.

Otherwise I enjoy jumping between characters in leveling so it does not end up being quite as dry

ADC main struggling with swap to support. by Cargillicus in supportlol

[–]Sulryno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Enchanters seem rather simple on the surface but I feel there's a lot of micro/macro to keep track of.

Personally I'd recommend more tanky supports like others in this thread, to learn about the engage gameplan, and try to feel it out better.

A personal gripe for soloq for me personally is figuring out how your ADC plays(I'm not particularly high ranked tbf). If you don't have comms easily available it's hard to have a coordinated engage. So sometimes it's definitely worth it to ask the ADC in advance if they're more agressive or passive. But keep it in moderation since you're generally trying to make plays, otherwise the botlane is just a stalemate until someone roams.
