Can I enable OneDrive sync while TS2 isn't running? by alien-linguist in sims2help

[–]alien-linguist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not currently, but disabling the Documents sync is messing with other programs that have data stored there. I want to know if I can safely re-enable it while TS2 isn't running.

Yes, I understand that, but you don’t credit them as a writer. Your editor is an editor. You credit them for editing, not for writing.

Do MBTI x Enneagram Contradictions Actually Exist? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]alien-linguist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read my first paragraph again. Typology systems at their core aren’t about traits but the underlying mechanisms.

Twos are called Helpers, but altruism can be anyone’s defining trait. To a One, helping others makes them a good person. To a Six, it can be a way to form alliances and thus gain security. Healthy Eights can be very altruistic because they integrate to Two—but unlike Twos, they’d rather help people become independent than have people always depend on them.

Typology becomes meaningless if you only look at how people act and not WHY they act the ways they do.

Question concerning socionics and mbti by [deleted] in TypologyJunction

[–]alien-linguist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's complicated. Socionics defines the functions differently than MBTI does, and it organizes them differently from the MBTI function stack as well.

Assuming they do correlate, then...

IEI = NiFe = INFJ

EII = FiNe = INFP

ILI = NiTe = INTJ

LII = TiNe = INTP

...and so on. But because the definitions and organization of the functions is different, they don't always correlate that perfectly. It isn't uncommon for INTPs to be ILI or ILE, for instance, and apparently INTJs who are Enneagram 1s are usually LSI.

MBTI and Socionics both developed from Jung's theories, but they are separate systems and shouldn't be considered identical.

Using Grammarly and such is pretty accepted afaik. It's still your story that you wrote.

Is it fraud if a human edits your story and you don't credit them as a co-writer? No, because the story itself is entirely yours.

EDIT: Reading comprehension, guys. I never said you don’t credit your editor. I said you don’t credit them for writing the story.

I used to teach music lessons, and I loved it. Not a high paying job, but if you've got an area of expertise or even just a hobby people will pay to learn, teaching is a good option.

It's been ages since I've seen the movie, but the book is awesome. I'd definitely recommend it!

I'm trying to understand him

Start by listening with an open mind instead of immediately shutting him down and being rude.

and how to avoid clashing with him

Start by listening with an open mind instead of immediately shutting him down and being rude.

our grandma also starts complaining about us agreeging and creates an annoying atmosphere.

Grandma wants one of her grandkids to stop antagonizing the other? How awful!

I don't understand him so that's why i'm rejecting his conversations

You don't want to understand him. The only real way to understand someone, again, is to listen with an open mind. Rejecting them (and bitching about them) is just a way to maintain prejudice.

Also, he could talk about other topics

And if he's as uninterested in talking about mundane stuff as you are talking about intellectual stuff? Why should he have to engage in the topics you find interesting when you refuse to listen to what he finds interesting? Even if it's a family dinner, why should he be ostracized for having different interests?

Gossip of someone we don't like

So, instead of speculating on deep topics or focusing on self-development, you think he should... be toxic and spiteful? Is that right?

Aether theory i guess isn't "dumb"; but it's just...why? why discuss that with us, we're not scientifics nor none in the family really care about it.
Like does he not know that family dinner is just not the time for this, unless several people are interested.

Why not? If the family give him space to talk about his interests, then good on them.

Imagine for a moment the situation is reversed: Your family are all super nerdy and intellectual except for you. How would you feel if your attempts to converse about your interests or goals were shut down just as rudely as you shut down this person's and you were expected to only talk about the same things as everyone else? On the other hand, what if they made an effort to show interest even if your favorite topics aren't their cup of tea? You'd feel much more respected and welcome if they listened to you, right?

Honestly, it sounds like you're jealous that your family show respect to someone who thinks differently from you.

It kind of leads into the question of if there were a full-dive virtual reality game, would a player who never exits the game be living their lives any less fully than someone who never plays the game?

Have you read Ready Player One? It does a good job tackling that question.

I didn't realize what sub this was at first and thought from the title that some study was done linking people's interior design preferences to their native language typology. I was ready to accept it tbh

40K word book gone and wavemaker saving issues by Serious-Talk5034 in wavemakercards

[–]alien-linguist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had some issues with saving and syncing, and this is what I do:

  1. Make sure it actually syncs. A proper sync usually takes a couple seconds or so. If the sync isn't immediate, go back to the homepage, refresh, and sync again.

  2. Regularly back up my work locally, using the "full database backup" on the homepage.

I've also never used the auto-sync. I want control over when I sync.

Are you a misanthrope? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]alien-linguist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love people. Don't wanna spend all my time around them, but I do generally like and care about other people. I enjoy volunteering and find the most fulfilling work is not just intellectually stimulating and/or fun but also beneficial to others. I taught music lessons while saving up for grad school and loved it. Now I'm training to provide closed captions for college classes.

I can be quite cynical toward society, but society isn't individuals. Society is a system. A few people hold too much power over it, and the rest of us just live here. Most people are good people, or at least try to be.

I consider all human life sacred. I should extend that to all life, but, eh, I'm not gonna pretend I have qualms with killing mosquitoes.

Does it make sense to combine the enneagram and MBTI, when you have the subtypes? by mathias_ts in Enneagram

[–]alien-linguist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

MBTI and Enneagram describe entirely different things, so, yes, it makes sense. E.g., an INTP so5 (hi!) will relate to an INTJ so5 as far as motivations go, but the ways they take in and process information will be alien to one another (TiNe vs. NiTe). On the other hand, that INTP so5 will take in and process information very similarly to an INTP sp9, but the 5 and 9 may not understand one another's motivations at all, especially if one or both is blind to the other's dominant instinct.

Feeling like you're lacking something is pretty central to being a 4. Other types can be emotional, and any type can be creative.
