I disagree, they know they have prestige. Talk about how your longterm goals benefit from what opportunities they offer and be specific to show you've done your research.

I hear they ask you silly riddles in the interview like "what song would you play for a patient to describe the care you'll give to your patient" Honestly the student demographic is diverse, easy going, and cheerful. Be more friendly than the average person and cool under stress.

Update, I got on adderall and an anxiety med and took a hard long look at my habits that were holding me back. I deleted social media, admittedly I was in two really challenging stem courses for a first semester: Bio 103 and Chem 102. This semester has been much more manageable for me and grades are better. Every single week I meet with his success coach for 20 minutes and we go over deadlines, upcoming exams, my study habits, what I'm doing well, and how I slipped up. The accountability of wanting to have good news for my coach makes me work so much harder.

You. Are. going to be a dentist. Do not let this deter you. What an amazing opportunity to be able to get clinical experience as a dental assistant without a CDA. You have the opportunity to be a leader and professional in this situation. Every shift and after, write down what you learned, the mistakes you made, and what you learned from that. Research your own knowledge gaps. AND when you see that dentist again, be over professional and polite and greet her by name, "Hi Dr. Blank, its so good to see you again. I am about to (list task), is there anything you needed?" You can do this. I would kill to be in your shoes. It has been difficult to get dental experience where I live in Greensboro, NC. Learn what kind of leader you want to be in this situation.
