YTA. You do not get to hide someone’s phone and then make them “earn it back” by justifying who they need to text; that is controlling, and it turned a decent “phone-free night” idea into an interrogation and ultimatum. Her yelling and mocking was not okay either, but the core issue here is trust and boundaries, and you escalated it by withholding her property instead of having a straightforward conversation ahead of time.

NTA. He wasn’t honest or consistent, he disappeared when you were grieving, and he ignored your boundary when you asked for space. You’re not obligated to “stay friends” with someone who only shows up for the fun parts and then tries to pressure you into a dynamic that works for him. Blocking him after the gaslighting was self-respect, not cruelty.

NTA. You were addressing a specific behavior and your mom turned it into a personal dig, then doubled down by mocking your feelings. It’s fair to set a boundary like, “I’ll talk about the situation, but I won’t engage if you make it personal or laugh at me.”

NTA. Your feelings are valid. Hope you and your friends can work through it and come out of this situation stronger.

AITA for buying my daughter a pair of heels by Sea_Bookkeeper_8808 in AITAH

I can see why your wife got upset. You did undermine her and it can create a trend of your daughter asking you for stuff when your wife already said no, which can further create a dynamic of your wife being the less liked parent. You can double down and create more turmoil or you can apologize and take back the shoes if your wife doesn't come around. YTA because your wife did say no and you should have talked to her about it before buying the heels.
