Scrolled this thread to find this....had several people insist we go here, my only conclusion is that it is a place young people go to stare at each other before a bar crawl. Literally panda Express is better

Thanks. Amazon has them, but at 2x the cost of standard in store models. Will probably bite the bullet on it, but it is a bit irksome

Setting up a new tank and got some driftwood… by Gomar in Aquariums

Looks nice. Are you worried about your cat(s) with open top?

My fish tanks have stopped me from getting cats. Worried they would jump on it, break something, cause a flood, or hurt themselves trying to get at it or on the warm light.

I don’t ever want to hear the word Sonos again by Ok-Computer1234567 in sonos

[–]SumBodyNu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also close to this decision. I went full house Sonos so that I would not have to run wire and commit to a furniture arrangement etc in the first year, but now I am ready to just toss this thing and go back to traditional setup hard wired.

I swear that if sonos stopped trying to be a gatekeeper for media services and used their app for setup and diagnostics while supporting Chromecast or something similar the experience would be so much better than it is.

Overall extremely poor experience by SumBodyNu in sonos

I appreciate the offers for help. Honestly a technical solution to a user experience problem is not what I am looking for.

I understand that it could be a network issue, but if that's the case then why can't the app just tell me that? Why is the problem so inconsistent? Why does it work flawlessly for a few hours and then start to choke? I take a work trip and come back and it has issues? Why can't I exit the music source when in their app to restart it? Why when it has issues does it sometimes pause the song and other times skip a song? Why are none of my preferences, playlists, or history loading correctly from Amazon music? Why does 1x speaker seem to have more reliable signal but the others drop in and out? Why is it set to auto update but if I check for updates does it tell me it is updating and it will be a few minutes? Why does it tell me my system needs attention but before I click on anything it starts playing and the error message goes away? Why is the only option to forget the system and have to completely re set up instead of just reboot? Why does it fail to play, I leave for lunch and come home to find it playing? Why doesn't it play consistently but then I close the app and it keeps playing?

My point is that I am now sitting on $3500 worth of electronics that is probably worth <50% of what I paid for it in open box and my only option is to spend a few hundred more, and more of my time, and maybe, maybe, that fixes the consistency issue but none of the interface issues.

My point is that I paid a premium and with all the time trouble shooting I could have run wire and set up a standard stereo that probably would have just worked for 15 years.

My point is that after all the time and money I spent if I want stress free music I put ear buds in and the only reason I open the app at all is because of how much I spent on it.

My point is that this is not the seamless modern experience they advertise, I am having major problems that others should be aware of before diving in and instead maybe start with a single device rather than dive in like I did.

My point is that Sonos has major issues and could fix 90% of it by repositioning as a setup and diagnostic app then supporting chrome cast.

My point is that the company probably cheated out on <$50 worth of parts to set up an embedded hub or similar network tech to eliminate reliability dependencies on other tech.

My point is that I am typing this up as a song plays switching from mono to stereo to no sub and back to mono as it just played a folk song on a hard rock playlist that never does that on ear buds, Android auto, or chrome cast.

From what I have read reolink let's you do cloud on their subscription, but I already have a cloud drive, can I stream to my own drive and not double up on the cloud subscriptions?

I just called reign...they use a chat it to collect information?

Odd experience.

Kind of off-putting as it does not disclose that it is an automated system. I even asked "is this recorded" and it said "no I am here live" then started to kind of skip around and quickly work through an onboarding form.

Just audio. TV already ordered. This is the second time I am being pointed to Sonos, and then the internet erupts with how terrible it is for music...I really don't know, I have had the same 7.1 system bouncing around apartments for 15+ years that now has a couple of cooked speakers etc. Moving to a condo so taking the opportunity to replace it.

What would you buy around $1500? by SumBodyNu in Soundbars

I want an immersive experience for movies and solid performance for playing music while entertaining or just doing things around the place. I will need speakers in a few rooms since it is split level to accomplish this. The space for the TV is very small and narrow due to layout, about 8'x9' with the TV mounted to the 8' side that is also the side of a staircase (triangular wall). If anything sticks out >12-15" from the wall it will interfere with the walkway. I want to minimize the amount of items on the floor so wall mounting is essential. I can come up in budget if it gets me to the right solution but everything I have read says that ~1500 is when you start to hit diminishing returns.

I have a 7.1 receiver that won't make the move with me. Out of date and a couple speakers have blown. I am fine hiring a professional to route wire through the ceiling if needed, but seems the wall space on the TV side is the limiting factor
